Differences in gear boxes

Same here shane, cusco had a stand at time attack last year with their LSD oil, with comparisons and motul and cusco were almost identical, with cusco being slighty better on wear rate apparently but if you can vouch for the motul then maybe thats the way to go, easier to source than cusco oil as well

If you dont have an LSD like me n shane etc then you dont need as stringent oil as him - a good regular oil will suffice

You would probably find the Cusco oil is not made by Cusco, simply rebranded.

But again you would just want to make sure it is OK for hypoid gears.

But yeah Motul is a world recognised motorsport quality oil. I'd be running their engine oil also if it wasn't so f**king expensive lol!

sorry for off topic here but what oil are you running - ive got castol syth 5-30 in at the moment - have you tried/rated it against others?

only the GPR rolled off the floor with it stock, and if you dont know that you have one or not, chances are that you dont.

Both front wheels off the ground, engine NOT going.....spin one wheel by hand while in gear........2 wheels spin same direction = LSD........two wheels spin opposite direction = non-LSD

Yeah I've been using Castrol Edge 5W30 for a while now, seems as good as anything I've used (but i haven't used Motul lol).

Love Motul engine oil on my bikes. Been sticking to them for some long years now. Will definitely use the Motul 300V 10w-40 or 5w-30 for the car. They are expensive yes, but imo definitely worth it.

LOL @ yet another oil thread.

I just use what the manual says. My closest available Repco sells Valvoline Duragear, 75W - 85 API GL-4.

I too have an LSD, but the instructions that came with my LSD were to just use the factory spec oil, as its a helical type & not a clutch type.

The only time you'd need to change from what the manual says is if you have a clutch type diff.

1.9L for my front diff

Haven't checked the gearbox level, probably up around the 5.5 mark...

Sounds like when Tim did my gearbox oil a few months ago.

"Oil keeps going in??? WTF, how much does that gearbox hold, It's still going, must be bigger than 2.2L, get's to 3L in box, can't be a standard GPVR gearbox?!?". Let's check, pull out funnel, all the backed up oil goes on the ground... About a litres worth by memory haha.

Not sure how it managed to overfill itself by that much though

Some newer manual gearboxes use ATF as standard eg. Ford Ranger
