Replicating Strut bars

Post by Taz »

So i was thinking today and was just wondering, what would be involved in replicating a strut bar and pumping out a few copies?
As there is quite the interest, is it feasable to get a few copies made up of a VR brace for a realistic price?
I have no idea what would be involved as surely replicating the strength of the bar would be the key, as well as how much it would cost to do so vs buying a new one, ive got both VR braces and will put them up to be replicated - anyone have any insight?

8 or so years ago UAS made some copies of a Cusco front strut brace (I have one), try getting in contact with them.

To be honest, out of everything ive been reading, UAS seem like a big f**k around and are way to expensive. I would rather approach another company who can do it cheaper.

If it is indeed possible to replicate them cheap enough on a VR brace, not a cusco - who would be interested? Seems to be a lot of want for them lately...

(cheers for the link too suppy)

The GPvR brace and the Cusco (alloy) brace are virtually identical.

I am confuse...
Is there a sudden shortage of strut bars that I am unaware of?
There are so many good and well priced options for the FTO (keep in mind Evo 4-6 front strut bars fit, just not the 3 point ones).

Well i have seen a few people lately wanting VR strut braces and i thought i could maybe do something good and pump out a few copies that would be cheaper than buying a new genuine one etc and save a few people a few dollars etc

But it seems i dont now so case closed - everyone can go source their own...

it's just a bar welded on 2 ring plates at the end with 3 holes drilled to suit the strut mount.

cheap as chips for the cost, but not in australia where everyone earn big bucks for labor.

To be honest, myself included, I would want the Version R strut brace only because it is OEM. If you replicated one it would no longer have the OEM appeal and would fall into the same category as any other strut brace, high end ones excluded of course (lets be honest, Cusco carbon fiber brace is more desirable than OEM).
btw I didn't mean to discourage you, and I think it's great that you wanted to something for the FTO community
