Import FTO

Has anyone actually imported an FTO lately? There are some nice examples from Japan, but you'll be spending over 10k anyway for a complianced and registered car.

Yeah you are not wrong, $3000 compliance, plus insurance, rego and importation fee.

Best thing to do would be either go halves with someone for the container or buy two FTOs/cars.

APPARENTLY you get charged for a full container even though they can fit two cars in one (someone verify?) so you pay double the price for a single container. I believe we were discussing this at the bonfire with either PHIL069 or Nacho. Pretty sure it was Phil

Cant remember their names right now, but on of the vRs were brought in not long ago, personal import. (or atleast, he did the leg work so to speak)

Might be me your thinking of. My GPvR came in from Tokyo back in March.

Importing is a huge hassle if you don't know what your doing. Import duty and compliance was $5,000 on my GPvR. Compliancing was done through an importer who was certified to comply FTOs according to the ADR

My car was $13,350 GST inc. after all the compliance, import and other paperwork. Then there was Stamp duty on top of it, plus Rego, plus insurance, plus you'll also need to buy new tres and everything to have it complied.

Word of wisdom, DON'T IMPORT THIS FTO, not worth it...

Look OP my car is giving me a lot of problems and I'm really tempted to just get rid of it. If you really want a project car then it could work. I mean it runs but it just wasnt looked after as well as it should have been by prev owners.

I've just spent close to 4 grand on fixing everything wrong with it and the day I get it back I already have another problem

Was about to say that Kiz imported his! I believe he's the most recent to import a well, so he's right in the loop when it comes to this...Agree 100%!
