Spark Plug socket

Hello all,

I guess this would really make sense to those people who have pulled apart their rocker covers...

I have just tried to replace my spark plugs and realised that the normal spark plug sockets doesn't fit down the cylinder.

Does any one know what brands fit?
Or does any one have a spare? I will buy it from you! Just name the price!

The ones that come with the car fits perfect, but my car didn't come with it!

So please let me know either way as I would very much love to replace my plugs....and adjust my tappets, but I don't want to take off the manifold so much as it takes me quite a while to pull it apart.

in your little toolkit for changing tyres is a sparkplug remover....

I know.
Most ppl have that with them with the car.
But I don't!

You are talking about the pouch where those metal pieces are that are used for the jack etc...right?
I don't have one in there!

That's why I am looking for one!

Would you have a spare I can buy?

i don't but i know unique found some really cool stronger german made ones... but i think they were pretty expensive

I guess who ever owns an FTO doesn't change spark plugs them selfs!

I know that you are in a bit of trouble. I do not know where you will find a tool to fit that. Before we realised that the tool was in the kit in the boot, we tried to get hold of something to fit into the hole. We managed to find a tool which would have been prefect, but the "bore" of the spark plug "spots" (sorry for the technical terms

) is not actually round all the way down. There are ridges on the edges part of the way down, so a normal round tool will not fit.

I think the only way out of this (short term) is to arrange to borrow one off one of the members on here for a day. I shudder to think how much a replacement tool is going to be!

...or try someone like unique autosports (if in sydney). They may lend you one, or hire it to you for a day.

So the spark plug socket that comes with the car is in that bag in the boot on the sides right?
Not where the spare tire is.....?

Cause I know I definately don't have it in the bag.....But not sure of where the spare tire is....

Could some one tell me where the socket was when you boguth the car?
