RPM pick up for remote starting

Post by JOA81 »

Hey I just bought myself a viper 5701 alarm system with remote start feature it needs a rpm signal to tell it when the engine has started so it will stop cranking just wondering if anyone has installed one of these and if so where would be the best place to get the RPM signal from

Thanks heaps in advance

I spliced into the taco wiring for my shift light, so did Bennoz.
It runs from the ECU in the passenger footwell to the back of the instrument cluster, and it is a White wire.
Bennoz spliced in @ the ECU end of the wire I believe.
I spliced in behind the instrument cluster by removing the cluster, which is easy to do.
Need more info? just ask :D

Sweet is there only one white wire coming out of the ecu or do I need to test the wires for it

And splicing in at the ecu won't be too hard for me at the moment considering my interior looks like this at the moment

Image

I'm finally getting around to installing my massive sound system and alarm system so I striped the interior to lay the wires in neat

8O nice dash, is it hand painted/air brushed?
Hahahaha thats how my interior looked when I installed sound and alarm.
all my under carpet interior is painted the same colour as the outside, yours seems to be all undercoat :?
I would test the wire anyway, the volts will rise with a rev of the engine :D

True well that will have to be a job for tomorrow as I am currently half way through relocating the battery to the boot for a duel battery system and I need new battery terminals so I can't connect the battery to run the car lol

And the interior is airbrushed you can see more of it in shenal's worklog I don't like it myself it came like that I want to get it re-done but that's the last thing on my to do list and I'm pretty sure the under carpet colour is the stock silver as I'm pretty sure this didn't come in pink from stock lol and the engine bay and boot are the same silver but I have painted the engine bay black to make the shiny engine stand out
