Hi Marshy.
I have looked into your coils as you requested on sms........
Bursons - New - ( 8O Sit down) $250each
eBay - New - ( :D Stand back up) $66each + $19 postage for three http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MITSUBISHI-F ... 2eb80d6900
Used from wreckers should be about $100 set, ring around.
I suggest you make sure this is your problem first, go to Kanwal Auto & Mufflers (Over the road from Wyong Hospital) he has a snap-on code reading computer that has FTO abilities, about $10-$20 for a diognosis.

P.S. 5 in a row

Put your throttle body on her car and test.
Put your coils on her car and test.

P.S. fold your mirrors

Ring first for a price, I go there all the time so my price might be cheaper than yours, ring other mechs if they are too expensive.
They should be able to tell you if you have a bad sensor/faulty fuel pump/faulty stepper motor/misfire.
You can do a manual code test, instructions on this site, do a search, didn't work for me though.
Try resetting your ECU, disconnect negative battery lead for 15-20 mins, reconnect and run engine for 5-10 mins.
Could also be blocked air intake/air filter, disconnect air intake from throttle body and test.
If it is a misfire you will have to do further investigating could be bad coil pack/bad electric signal getting to coil pack/loss of compression in pot/burnt or cracked valve/burnt or cracked piston/clogged or faulty injector/crack in head gasket/crack in head/faulty piston compession ring.
So if computer diagnosis comes up with nothing you may have to get compression test done.

I repeat.....

If nothing changes put her coil packs/throttle body on your FTO and test.
If they work on yours but not hers they are fine, it would have to be something else as above.

If you want to bring it around mine for a look, tomorrow arvo will be OK :D

Ewww. Well if injector cleaner fixed it, then that's telling you 2 things.

- Get your injectors out & properly machine cleaned.
- Change your fuel filter. Asap.

So true!!

But to test the coils what you can do is to pull the coil from its resting position (and ground it somehow) stick a small screw driver into both ends of coil which screw driver is resting a cm from a grounding point of car and you should see a spark grounding itself from screw driver.
