The 6g75 is a larger displacement and still outputs more power.

Also slightly easier to attain than it's DOHC equivalent in Aus.

Hence only reason for the recommendation.

I think there were some very rare examples (Pajero Evo??) which came with 4.0 DOHC MIVEC. Not 100% on this though

75 will be my first choice but the cost of the engine is pretty much the same as getting a 74 halfcut.

also came across a Ralliart Supercharged version of the 380

Bigger capacity? no.
2.5L over 3.8L

Bigger physical size? no
6a13 based off 6a12, cylinder capacity smaller therefore cylinder block is smaller
cylinder block of 6G motor is larger.

bare engine physical size i mean. Thanks.

Some bad news, might not be able to get 3.5 engineered. 3.0 6G72 is the reverse so dont think it will work.

Any other engine which is the same side as FTO beside 6G74/75?

Nope.

Not unless you go turbo.

Meanwhile, I do happen to know of a legnum front cut going for $900'ish' minus the gearbox...

I do believe he is in Sydney.
And I THINK he may even have an account on here.

Will get some contact details for you, or have him post up if he's a member.

And yes, 6a13 same bell housing as 6a12.
Also the front cut was a manual, so the wiring is perfect for your conversion!

EDIT: oh, 72 is not the wrong way around, there is 2 versions. However, the 72 (180deg) is a sohc from the Magna and not as powerful as the dohc version, so not overly worth the mod. (in my opinion)

awesome!
ya, only found the sohc version. was thinking not worth the mod for SOHC. thats why was looking at 74/75.
How much power did you get from your turbo magna?

Mines an older Magna with an old Japanese single cam turbo motor (same as a Starion, but in FWD)
Never had the final result dyno'd and the car still isn't finished, gave up a while ago after the RVR was stolen. (put me off modding cars)

May revive her one day.

anyone that was thinking about this conversion in NSW in the future, it pretty hard.
had a chat with an engineer, he mentioned the increase in displacement is too much. so its unlikely to get engineered

Don't bother to get it engineered. Just make sure you can get pink slips for your rego renewal.

Wonder how Bennoz get his pink slips done.. :cheeky:

Bennoz is a 6A13TT conversion illegal?
What percentage capacity increase can be engineered?

Yeah its legal. 20% capacity increase is the rule. Which is exactly what going from 2000cc to 2500cc is.

I've just never got round to getting mine engineered. Still gotta finish the air box for that to happen.

I had fun when I rang up about my conversion.

"Hi, it mentions 20% INCREASE"
What about a decrease of 25%?"

"UMMMMMMMMMM....."

*snigger*

So Akys, updates?
