Rattling/Rocking Noise - Front Right Wheel
Just looking for some verification on this one, I've been told it's either my universal joint or my wheel bearing...
Hypothetically if it was either of these issues causing this loud rattling nose that's really starting to piss me off, how much will I need to fork out to fix either of these issues??

Or drop link, or shock, or spacer at the top of the strut.
Sorry, but yeah, more info.
Know how to check if any of those things are worn?

The only thing I had rattling from my front suspension is the sway bar bushes and that's in ten years.
Doubt it's a bearing, driveshaft could rattle but I also doubt it. Grab your driveshaft while under the car and wiggle it from left to right not rotating. There should be no play.
Your best bet is to check your bushes with a pry bar and check for movement. Movement in a bush will cause noise. Check tid rod ends for play as well.

Whell a wheel bearing doesn't knock, its like a very low pitched wub wub wub very quickly.
CV joints should click when turning, it's unmistakable.

A bearing can cause a knock if it buggered enough.

If you have a wheel bearing thats knocks, your wheel is probably going to fall off.payaya wrote:A bearing can cause a knock if it buggered enough.
The bearing would need to be mightily screwed for that.

Will have closer lokk DIY day but from what you described to me sounds like either caliper is loose or shocks/strut top

...I'm missing a wheel nut on this wheel now.
Tim, did we put all of my wheel nuts back on?
sh*t.
Oh well, the noise is dying down now for some reason, it's less frustrating! I just turn up my music and go into denial that there's something wrong with my car.

Denial is always a good option for vehicle noises, one of the pluses to loud music/thumping sub

Mate having a bit of play in a wheel bearing will cause a knock but far from having your wheel fall off.Shhtuart wrote:If you have a wheel bearing thats knocks, your wheel is probably going to fall off.payaya wrote:A bearing can cause a knock if it buggered enough.

With the small amount of info supplied I reckon it's the tie end rods.
