Is this normal?

Post by Shazzam »

Today I had jb hi fi install my stereo.
Cost me $170 then when I went to pick it up he tells me I have no radio and probably need a windscreen antenna.
I don't see why he couldn't of rang me to tell me, I would of paid whatever extra he wanted?
I feel ripped, I paid to have it installed and the radio doesn't even work?
Not his fault if I had no antenna or whatever but I don't see the point in radio installation if the stupid thing doesn't even work. Is this just my bad luck?

You do have an antenna

Funny enough, it IS in the rear windscreen.

He probably didn't hook up the power line for the antenna which needs 12v tap from ignition, or amp out power.

Is it my bad luck or he didn't do it right?
I don't want to complain if he did his part.

all FTO from standard have an antenna in the rear window.
If they have a button on the dash near the guages and A/C controls, then it has a power antenna. (retractable)

I believe it's a pink wire coming out from a split where the antenna cable is, it needs a 12v feed for the radio to function.

I dare say then that the tabs on the side of the plug have been compressed in.
Simply put a small flat head under the tab, pull it out a bit and then push it back in to the headunit, should then hold.
