Coolant. Should I do a radiator flush?

Post by Shazzam »

Today I noticed the car pretty smelly.
It has zero coolant.
Should I get the radiator flushed and them to refill coolant etc
Or I don't need the radiator flush and top up myself?

Sometimes you're a complete cock sucker.

To add an answer, top up the radiator, keep an eye on it, you may have a leak.
You only need to flush if your coolant system is full of rust.

Thanks. I will just take it to tyre power and get them to do whatever.
Bit hard to get genuine help.
Your either getting ripped off, or smart ass answers like above.

You may want to add water before you drive it anywhere, depending how low the coolant is, you risk doing further damage.

Remove radiator cap, fill up till full, put cap back on.

Should I leave the engine running while I top up the radiator?

^ :cheeky:

btw, only top up the coolant when your engine is completely cool.
top it up then start your engine and continue to top up if needed, check for leaks, then drive to a proper mechanics if needed.

All this time I've defended the comment an FTO is a wankers car. You've proved a lot of people right!
Does your small mind think they are just a tyre store?

Wow I thought I was dumb for not knowing anything about engines but you take the cake.

Thanks. The radiator was fine.
They are going to check for leaks tomorrow and check my water pump out aswell.
My coolant was low but not empty.

yeah I generally flush when i change coolant but not for top up. As for smelly? may pay to check passenger carpets below glovebox, just to be sure your heater matrix is not leaking ;)

I simply thought the smell was from lack of water/ hot engine smell.

Its ok Phil, if I read everything off the Internet and assumed and judged like sublime or the other tosser has I would have to assume they are packing more di*k in their personality rather than their pants.
