power steering belt fell off :(

Post by gpx000 »

ok i think i have been having the worst luck with my car for the past 2 weeks

1. alternator was stuffed
2. got defected
3. car went into limp mode the other day
4. car struggled to go past 3k rev
5. i was driving and my power steering belt decided to just come off and i haaaaave no idea how :? and its brand new since we got a major service when we bought the car. the belt looked worn out.

i think its time to let her go :(

Oh for gods sake, harden the f**k up & fix it!

Limp mode is probably a shot input or output sensor, check the error codes. Would also explain you not being able to rev it past 3k. Cheap part, cheap fix.
Changing a power steering belt is a 3 minute job & a 20 buck belt.

Mildly suspicious that the belts would have been off last when they put in the other alternator a week or 2 ago...

Always better to do the work yourself, at least you know it's done right.

Was it embarrassing because you couldn't handle the steering without the assistance of the power steering? Did she have to help you steer?
