I know FTO designed to run with 100 octane Unleaded Petrol, however, as we have no access to this kind of luxury in Australia and our regular unleaded fuel is around 91-92 octanes, I am wondering if anybody is practising using regular unleaded in an FTO, so I can ask about the performance difference.
For example my question here is that, if the driver never pushes the engine hard (assuming never going over 4k rpm) is it safe to use regular unleaded in FTO

Regardless of whether you are pushing the FTO hard or not, you will not damage it by using 92RON fuel.
The FTO has various sensors that can detect how the engine is responding to the fuel being used and can adjust the timing of the engine to suit. You will not damage your engine but you will get less performance and as you will also get less kms/litre the economy will also be lower and will negate the price difference.
I have run all levels of fuel (92/95/98 RON) and different brands, personally the only thing I wouldn't do would be use 92RON or Optimax.
If you want to save a little, try the 95RON stuff that Caltex sell (can't remember the name off the top of my head), it will be cheaper than 98RON but the performance and economy decrease won't be as great as if you were using 92RON.
I don't know enough about gas, but it should be possible, but I don't know if the high compression ratio or high revs of the FTO will be a problem.

The weird thing is, i'm actually feeling more power with regular unlead than optimax hahaha weird huh? or maybe u have to reset your computer when u change fuel.

If you running straight gas (changing the your whole engine setup), then yes, it would be faster, if just a gas conversion, well then good luck if you can do 0-100 in 15sec.
Plus you might save on petrol in short run, but you have to do a major serive to the EFI every 2-3yrs, which cost around $2k. So unless you think you can save more then $2k on petrol before the service, then my advice to u is don't do it.

Basically my understanding is, optimax has tueline... therefore, after you car has run on Optimax for a few tanks it get's tueline build up. Therefore when you put normal ULP, the RON rating increases, and that's why probably you don't feel much.
And if you decide to change to another premium fuel, yes, then the rating will also slightly increase. However the milage for the first number of tanks will be crap, until the tueline goes away from your fuel system, so in your situation, after the tueline will go away, (lengh depends on how long you have been using optimax) then you will actuallu feel the difference between say Normal UL, and Ultimate for example...
I know that optimax is really cheap compared to the others, but still, with my car i get 50/60/ + km's more with Ultimate (98RON), or Vortex Gold (95RON), Best fuel for highways is Vortex Gold...
