Lost Gears!
Hey guys, struck a bit of a problem tonight.
Was driving around for a while with no problems. Stopped to get some dinner. Then when the car was started again, I couldn't find Reverse straight away, and the gearbox felt all sloppy. I eventually found reverse and was able to get on the road, but when I changed from 1st to 2nd, there was no typical feel of the gear slipping out of one and into another... it was just sloppy and the car revved with no power. 1st works, 3rd works, 2nd and 4th do not, obviously didn't try 5th.
Any ideas? It doesn't sound real good hey *cries*

I dont reckon its as bad as you might think. You could have busted a selector cable or one of the nylon bushes that hold them in - alternatively it could be the selector bracket:

Re: Lost Gears!
Sorry to dig up an ancient post but I have just had this exact same problem! The gear changes started to get sloppy then suddenly all I had was 1st 3rd and 5th. 2nd 4th and reverse do not work and the gear stick is all over the place!
Does anyone know what the problem is and if Effteeo ever fixed it?

Hmmm. I could state obvious, but I don't think I really need to.

Nice one!
Those spring clips holding the cables in are a treat to get off huh?

Re: Lost Gears!
Oh btw have fun snapping selector cables once you've done this mod, as the bracket is too rigid and the cable has to take the brunt of all of the shift.
