Rear view mirror fell off, took off glass chunk

Post by sublime19 »

Rear view mirror fell off and took a small piece of glass with it as shown in pics below :(

Can't really afford a new windscreen right now, so thinking of temporarily sticking it on the side of where the sticker currently is. Won't be exactly in the middle but it beats buying a new windscreen.

Will this be OK to do?

Also, do I specifically need the same little black sticker that's on the inside of the windscreen, and if so, where do I get one? :/

Heeeeelp!!

holy crap. :cyclopsani:

no help...

Meanwhile, a guy at work has been driving his MR2 for ages without an interior mirror, even been pulled over for suspected speeding and nothing said about it missing....

So, you have 1 more thing to go wrong, wonder what it's gonna be.

Did you glue it onto the glass without the black sticker? Guy at repco told me I need the sticker there or else something in the sun overtime will take the glue apart.

I can't glue mine back in the same spot, it's a chunk of glass lol (or can i?)

That stuff is awesome. I even used it to hold my boost-gauge in position in the triton for about 6months. Held it in place really well, but got a little saggy on hot days. Had to keep adjusting it.
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

until then:
1. 2001 Merc-Benz A160 (porta-loo on wheels)
2. 2007 Peugeot 307 TDi (more fun than you'd expect)
3. 2009 Mitsubishi Triton Di-D (a monster in its own right)
4. 1992 Nissan NX Coupe (club car and project car)
5. 1996 Holden SB Barina - "The Nugget"
6. 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport - The Budget Build
7. 2010 Toyota Landcruiser 76 Series - V8 Goodness... - Build coming soon.
8. 1990 Audi 90 manual - The delightfully dignified daily driver

Haha its back on now. I did get that rierview mirror attachment glue and primer kit from repco, just didn't wanna stick it onto the glass because originally it had a black sticker, was thinking it must've been there for a reason. Anywho, all good now ;)
