Another FTO problem :/ car shaking upon startup
So apparenty my FTO is having yet another problem...
Tonight when I started the car it started shaking violently for around 5 minutes. I opened the bonnet and the engine was going all over the place. After the 5 minutes however it went back to normal.
I did some research and apparently it could be an injector issue? (which expands upon the startup issues I was having in the other thread).
Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks

Another FTO problem :/ car shaking upon startup
Was it backfiring?
How long since engine mounts been change (although I dont think it's that)
Wrong fuel put in? They run on unleaded lol

The bottom mounts do need to be changed, but if it's perfectly normal afterwards I wouldn't think that's the problem. There was no noise to indicate it was backfiring, the leads and plugs were also changed around 15k ago.
And nope had the same tank of fuel for the past few weeks, also run on premium unleaded.

it may not be mounted exactly right, but when the engine got hot it realigned a bolt a mount, maybe,
has it done it since?

I drove for 10 minutes after the problem, when I started it back up again it was fine. I'm assuming it's something to do when the engine is cold...

more than likely, obviously once it heats up it sits where it should, or a bush expands and holds it still,
start by checking all the bolts etc on the mounts, and then see what happens

Maybe a cylinder was not firing...

to me, a "Violently shaking" engine means it's misfiring. This doesn't mean it will backfire straight away, however that also helps to diagnose it.
Have you cleaned/replaced the fuel filter since the last issue? Could still be it's not getting enough fuel, or there is so much crap in it that the filter can no longer stop the particles getting through, and they're making their way into the injectors and clogging them up.
I'd still be chasing the fuel system, not fuel itself. Ignition system could now also be an issue, as if there are any bad contacts between the sparkies and coil-packs it could be creating the problem you've got.
Given how it's progressed though, I'm gunna go with a blocked/failing injector or blocked fuel filter

Re: Another FTO problem :/ car shaking upon startup
yip has to be a miss either fuel or spark, to be violent shaking sounds like spark from coil as this would cause two cylinders to fail, recheck connections to coils first and fuel filter is a good thing to change anyway unless done recently

Yeah... I'm also leaning towards failing coil pack (or poor connection to coil pack.)
Can you get any error codes out of it when cold?

Engine could be stuck in a closed loop causing issues when cold. Could also be a vacuum leak.
Too hard to diagnose via the net though!

From my epic learnings with my girlfriend's Hyundai the other day...Have you recently degreased the motor or sprayed a shitload of water on it? I may or may not have completely flooded two of the spark chambers... After hitting them with an air gun and letting them dry out, the problem was fixed...If not...I'm useless.
