Bit of Electrical Help

Well, decided I didnt want the cigarette lighter on the dash anymore. Going to relocate that to the centre compartment. Have bought me a Pivot electric start button off Ebay. I have installed the button but need a confirmation on the wiring if anybody can help:

Here is the wiring diagram for the FTO ignition circuit:



Now, Black goes straight to earth, thats a no brainer

Red is the "Power Path that passes through the ignition" which im guessing means the current from the fusable link ie the red wire that goes into the back of the ignition barrel

The first blue wire (labelled green in instructions) is the "Terminal 15 - ign" which im guessing is perhaps ignition system which would make it Black-White

The 2nd blue wire is the "Terminal 50 - The Power Path From Ign to Starter Motor" which im guessing is perhaps Black Red

Any help would be appreciated

Hmmm, after reading that DIY + comments, not so sure I want to wire this in myself. Had a shot over the weekend using the above mapping and it didnt fly, so have disconnected again. Thinking maybe a sparky is in order.

Wire colours:
FTO ignition loom.......................Function
Red..............................................Permanent live
Black/white...................................Live only with ignition on
Black/red......................................Live feed when starter engaged



Do not use either of the blue wires on the FTO ignition loom as they provide a live with the ignition
turned on, but it disappears when the starter is engaged.


Yeah probably best to speak to a sparky, using the known setup starts the car but what if you want to stop it?If pressing the button is engaging the starter then if you pressed it while running the engine could cause some damage???Might as well get it done right

Blue red wire - starter button - blue red wire.

You will need to hold the key in starting position while pressing button.

where and how did you get your stereo surround like that sexuallll ... i was thinking of putting one in my car if you want to wait untill the weekend ill walk you through it while im doing mine
