Dashboard Icon Confusion

Post by superezra »

I'm a bit confused, I just bought an fto and when I put it into drive mode on the dash board it goes from an N to a flashing N. Is this suppose to happen? The D is below it not lit up?

Does it get stuck in 3rd gear when this happens? If so then the transmission has gone into "limp Mode". It is a way of protecting it's self when it detects a fault. It is probably a faulty sensor, or possibly a blown fuse.

Yeah it's stuck in 3rd gear and in tip mode it won't shift up. How much will it cost to fix the problems?

It is hard to say without more information. You will need to get the error codes first by following the steps here: http://ftoaustralia.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14667

Well the neutral flashing disappeared, now just the 1 lights up, is that right?

No - the D does not light up. When you go from neutral and move it down into drive, the 1 should light up, 2 when you shift up, 3, 4, etc. When in D, it shows what gear youre in, the D does not light up.

Check error codes and fuses in cabin by drivers kick panel

(do your hazard or indicators work?) If not then fuse for some reason this also connects into same loop as g/Box ecu and puts in limp mode when blown

I don't have front indicators yet, the car goes into flashing N after a minute of driving? Is there anyone in Sydney around Blacktown who can diagnose the car? I don't wanna risk doing the DIY since I barely know much about cars.

Might be totally unrelated but when kates front left indicator was shorting it would go into limp mode EVERY time.
