Re: Diff whir? :/
When does the sound happen.
does it make it when stationary.
if the cars not turned on in neutral and you push, does it make the noise.
Try all the little tricks to find the cause.

Yep, as above, when does it make the noise? Driving straight or cornering? What speeds?
Whirring at speed is usually a shot inner cv.

the car did make the noise stationary yesterday morning, but yesterday driving along, at any speeds it made it, and putting the car in neutral and reving it, the more revs the more it spinds and whirs,
it actually kinda sounds like a small turbo spooling up :/

Re: Diff whir? :/
sounds like an input shaft bearing if it's whirring in Neutral. possibly even a pulley. You'd be amazed at how oddly sound will travel through a car. A lot of subies will sound and feel like a Front Left bearing is shot, when in fact it's the Rear Right. (stupid machines)
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

Is it an auto? The noise you describing gets louder the more rpm you have? Most likely transmission shards of metal is blocking up your oil pump causing the high pitch whine. Common on autos that are on it's last legs.
Noise is intermittent.
