18th March. DIY Day. Pre Bonfire FTO weekend cont.

Hi all.

So on the fact my car needs some work done, and everyone could do with ensuring their car is up to the drive down south for the bonfire, I am hosting a DIY day at my place.

As some of you will be attending the drive on the 17th, it will make this a weekend of FTO, before the bonfire! Oh Joy.

I will say now, NO alcohol allowed due to driving requirements. Sorry Tinny Poppers. I am not hosting a sleep over, this is strictly for car work.

DIYs that can be done.
This is by no means strict, but keep in mind that you have to get home that day,

• Oil changes.
  Coolant flushes.
  Hose replacements
  Brake pad replacements
  brake fluid changing
  Globe replacements
  Car washing, polishing
  *Any jobs you 100% know you are capable of doing on the day by yourself, but would appreciate a hand.*

No headlight baking, angel eyes
No rear spark plug changes *unless you are 100% confident*

There are plenty of facilities near me including a car parts shop should you need more goods. clicky

Weber barbecue is available to be used *I am by no means a chef, so a cook is appreciated*
Aza has offered some meat which is very much appreciated.
I will provide bread
If someone can bring sauce that would be great *no special sauce please*
I will have a few cases of Pepsi, please bring your own preferred drink otherwise *reminder, no alcohol*

Details:
18th March 9:00am - 4pm.
I am based Inner West near Balmain
Bring as many of your own tools as you know you will need. (I do have tools, jack stands, ramps, etc.)
Own items you wish to change, oil, brake pads, etc. *old oil is to be taken home with you* however all other junk can be disposed in bins.

EDIT: Please also state the job you want done, first come first served, but if we get a group, helps knowing rotation of cars and where to put.

To add to the above Astron and myself will be there to assist any one with there work needed on the cars not to do it for you. This way you will have more confidence in your self to do the job next time or help others .

What the hell. My car needs a wash, so that weekend is as good-a time as any to do it. I'll also be rocking the bald-head, depending on what happens with my shave for a cure. I'll be throwing the hat round, so any spare change will be greatly appreciated

My street can become a little croweded, but will try to hog as many spots as possible.
Any oil changes we can do in the driveway and garage that's available, so we will simply rotate cars for that to make it easier.
Any body work, can be done in the street, just be wary of cars passing by.

An oil change is rather simple.
In fact there is a half decent DIY video you can watch in the DIY section, if you haven't already.

If you want an oil change done, simply buy the oil and filter and we can guide/ assist on how to do it.

In the end, it's as simple as:
Hoist up
Remove sump plug
let drain
replace sump plug
remove filter
replace filter
put new oil in.

All in all, 30 mins work max. You could also go with running through a flush if it's been a while, but doing so makes filter removal that little bit more fun.

remove front bumper
locate sump plug
remove sump plug
drain oil onto driveway because you forgot to put the pan under the sump
pan under sump
remove engine oil cap
pour new oil in
drive to supercrap (in other car) to get more oil because you forgot to put the sump plug back in
return from supercrap
replace sump plug
pour in new oil
put engine oil cap back on
put front bar back on with half the bolts and screws (because they're missing now)
put wheels back on
find rest of bolts and screws, put them in a tin for later
lower car
hoon away

Least I'm pretty sure that's how it went.
