Design of Airbox: Allow air into combustion chamber, keeping the sound of induction down to a minimum to meet required standards.
Purpose of Pod Filter: Allow air into combustion chambe, piss off the law and make people ask questions like is it legal.
What you are trying to achieve is to piss off the law, whilst using something that is designed to make the law happy.
Newtons laws anyone?
The only gain from a pod, which only works in perfect conditions, is to have about a 1-3% gain in power, not taking in to account heat absorbtion.
The only difference apart from looking in your engine bay is the sound of a vacuum cleaner that's clogged with something which has been interpruted by hektix as 'fully sick' thanks to Honda.
Our's has a pod, which came with the car, and I can't be screwed buying the filter box. Never had an issue, even when the wife was on her Ps.
All depends how you drive.

Re: Pod Filter
I have heard various feedback about pod filters - some people say they can feel a difference, others say they dont, others say it only makes a difference with cold air intake. I just wanted to test it for myself - legally (with box, as im on my Ps)
I fix cars.

Re: Pod Filter
99% of the time, those sort of things are a placebo effect.
If you get told something will happen enough times, then try it and expecting it to happen, your mind tells you it has.
There has been tests done on one of the FTO sites comparing filters, both panel and pod, in the end the only benefit came from the HKS mushroom, and it was minimal, nothing huge.
These things can also toy with your ECU and it will start doing funky things like overfuel, early ignition, etc, (depending on how advanced the ecu is) and whilst it will give a 'notable' increase, in the end is simply playing tricks with the engine and making some things wear out quicker, plugs, pistons, etc.
These are all extreme cases, but in the end the things are factory designed and tested, I'd trust oem over some 3rd party simply wanting to make money.
You will get no obvious gains from a pod in a box.

Re: Pod Filter
factory airboxs are not built for proformance there built for one thing only to keep intake noise low and 99% of the time to do this they haft to sacrifice power . with that said a decent pod behind the front bar or in a box being fed cold air is always going to make the car breath better.

Nope there was no modification to the stock air box which is why I don't understand people go to all this trouble for another enclosure.Daniel2019 wrote:Did it need much modification or was it a pretty easy fit with using two clips?payaya wrote:Yep my pod is in my stock air box so it is possible.
From memory get one of these slim line adapters.

Bolt it to the inside of your air box and mount the pod in there. A normal sized pod fits.
