Re: MIVEC V6 into..... 1997 S1 Lotus Elise
The tb is 70mm, for b16/b18 honda. $185.
The S13 had pretty stiff suspension, so handled well.
Headers are wrapped with the top spec stuff from thermal velocity. Its a gold colour.

Cam gears and oil cap
Firewall, needing clearance mods
Exhaust muffler
Alternator mount removed from block
Water manifold modified
Cam gears/cambelt

Why cut off the filler neck?
Well, it was in the way of where the throttle body will be..
And i can, because the Elise has a factory header/breather tank system.

Great work there Clint, when do you expect it to be running?

Not for the fto motor with a sc.
And anyways, so long as its not too small, is there really much issue having a little to big a bore throttle body?
Sure, you may lose a little in the way of throttle response, but it wont really hurt it.
60 - 70mm is prob at the upper end of what you'd want on a 2L though.
I ran a 58mm on the rover k motor, which is 1.8L.
I am really liking the Works Engineering brand/product!
Finished?
When its done.
To be honest, I am past having ideas/expectations of when I should have completed it, as that only ever leads to disappointment when it comes to custom work/mods.
I have a fair bit to get thru/acquire, and that all depends on time and funding available.
Time: I am a shiftworker, and travel over an hour and half each way to work and back..
Also, I do have important considerations with time as well, such as my girlfriend and our 1 year old daughter.
Money: bills and other crap to deal with, as well as allocating what I can toward the Elise. Trust me, it sees its share of each fortnightly pay.
As it stands right now, today, I need to modify the firewall, get/make the clearances to locate the motor and box where I need it, fabricate mounts for it, fabricate all the coolant connections, fabricate inlet manifold/plenum, fabricate driveshafts/cv joints, acquire the supercharger, throttle body, fuel pump, air box/filter (likely a BMC OTA), oil filter remote mount, oil cooler and thermostat valve, ecu, coils/plug leads, connect/mount it all, fabricate exhaust, need new coilovers (the reason I pulled it off the road when i did!)
Then there are all the little fiddly things, fuel hoses and connections, pcv hoses/oil catch can, things like an over boost bleed valve/solenoid (more on that much later) idle control valve.. etc...
Beyond all that, once tuned, I need to check and redo a little programming of the AiM dash, I have mods I need to do to the headlights (a custom bi-xenon Retrofit).
So, not by any means a small job ahead.
Having said all that, I would, however, very much like for it to be all done before rego is due, late May.
Fingers crossed, that time, and funds, allow.
On the up side, aren't you interested guys up for one hell of an ongoing build thread....

Re: MIVEC V6 into..... 1997 S1 Lotus Elise
I didn't realize you were going to supercharge it.
The thing with the TB is you want to keep air velocity up as well hence bigger is not always better. And if my memory is not failing me, larger TB is less of an issue in boosted cars (could be wrong though).
Do you plan on getting it going as is and then adding the SC?
Yes an on going build thread would be great. But remember, there is no such thing as too many pictures

Re: MIVEC V6 into..... 1997 S1 Lotus Elise
Start n/a, then charge.. not sure. Considered that, could then keep 2 maps, and run n/a or sc whenever, for whatever reason.
Have 2 inlet flanges being laser cut, plan was to fab an n/a inlet plenum, and also one for the sc.
But, would be a little more cost effective in the long run if i just decide, and do one.
Really, if i have inlet setups for both, I can't see me swapping to n/a for any real reason.
Pics, oh yes, don't we all love pics, especially of custom work or special parts..

What are the parameters of the plenum design for the NA version? And are you doing this out of necessity or you think it will offer worthwhile gains?

Parameters? Haven't got that far yet.
Know how I have to do it, at least for the sc, but just mental images.
Factory plenum won't fit in Elise.
And, is not exactly aesthetically pleasing.

Will you use some software to tell you the ideal runner length, diameter, and plenum size?

Negative! LOL
The lower half of the manifold will remain unchanged, the plenum will be fabricated on a laser cut flange which bolts directly on, in place of standard top half of inlet.

Re: MIVEC V6 into..... 1997 S1 Lotus Elise
Its not actually a balanced on these motors, believe it or not.
Aza, they are very, VERY well priced, like $120 for this pulley!
Oil cap, $30, cam gears, $330.
FPR, $129, T/B $185/199

Is it just called a crankshaft pulley on these engines?

I have previously posted a link to the aus source for these bits.
Yes, crank pulley.
There is no balancer

Oh okay so all it does is power the belts via the crank?

Is it lightweight, or underdrive or anything?
