Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change..?
If you haven't done so already I would disconnect your battery for a few minutes, reconnect and start it up and check codes again as they could be old stored codes.
Were the codes definately from the gearbox flashing N light or did you use a tool to get the codes?
Gearbox codes
22 - input shaft speed sensor
41 - 1st gear ratio does not meet specification
42 - 2nd gear ratio does not meet specification.....
43 - 3rd gear
44 - 4th gear
What this means though who knows but I would imagine that if you're getting 22 then it will screw up other stuff.
I would just try changing that sensor first and see how you go.

look at page/section 23-14
Where abouts in WA are you?

Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change..?
My gearboxes have always leaked a tiny bit, unless it's a lot I wouldn't think that's the cause of your problem but your level may be low, wouldn't hurt to check when it's warmed up.
pm dstocks and see if he has a spare input shaft speed sensor - shouldn't cost too much, if he doesn't you can get one from mitsi but they may charge an arm and a leg.
Camskill have them but you will have to wait for delivery from the UK, shouldn't take too long though.

BTW - It may not be this but that's what I would replace first.

Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change..?
No it should be easy.
I've never had to replace one but it's a common thing to go, it's near the gearbox oil filter - here's a pic that I pinched off someone over on ftooc:

Leaking transmission is bad. I wouldn't let it leak especially on the temperamental Mitsubishi transmissions.
Input/output sensors are $80 from Mitsubishi dealerships so I am unsure why you would source from cam skill and have to wait.
I reckon your getting intermittent n flashes due to your gearbox overheating. Good luck I've been through two rebuilds!!

I've got a spare tip box if needed. Could do it pretty cheap.

$80 is pretty good, didn't realise they would be that cheap so yeah why wait.
When you get it all sorted I would look into fitting a transmission cooler.
How much is it leaking, is it enough to leave marks on your drive or just a bit on the casing?

Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change..?
Flashing N can mean a few things, if it detects a problem it will go into safe mode and N will be flashing.
If it's flashing at 1Hz (once per second I think) then it could be:
Output shaft speed sensor
Input shaft speed sensor
Solonoid valves
Out of phase at each shift point (whatever that means)
A/T relay control system
flashing at 2Hz (twice per second?)
Then ATF fluid is too hot, this could be because there isn't enough in there or something is wearing and on it's way out or you been driving like a nutter.
Might be that the fluid just isn't working as it should anymore and just needs changing, when was it last replaced?

Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change.? and engine oil leaking som
Hope your gearbox is ok now.
Not sure about your engine oil leak, I have a leak in a similar place but I haven't determined where it's coming from yet - i'm hoping it's from the crank shaft seal and just spraying around that area as I need to do the cambelt anyway.
Try cleaning it off/degreasing it and check again in a day or two to see if it's definately from the head gasket or is just getting sprayed on there somehow.
Is it just from the corner and then stops by the time it gets to the middle of the block? If so it could be from the camshaft seal round the corner if you know what I mean but i'm no expert, just my thoughts.
Or is it from the sump and spraying up somehow?

Re: 94 gpx need gearbox change.? and engine oil leaking som
the N still come out after i change the gear box oil and i rekcon thats not because the heat. because the N start flashing in two minute after i start the car last nite..but will get a Input shaft speed sensor to have a try..
the engine oil can leak in one trip..not need days..
i wipe a little bit last nite and take the pic this morning after 30 minute run....look like the oil from the bolt..
..will check again..

The leak is coming from your rocker cover gasket or your plug seals leaking causing oil to go past your plugs.
How many times is n flashing a second? Two is overheating.

Rocker or plug seals. Bet your plugs are drenched in oil.

I will be taking the plenum off soon so will check the plugs then, rocker seals are ok.
I'm reckoning camshaft seal but hard to know without taking covers off, guess I should get on with it and sort the problem out.
