FTO GP?

Post by Technikhaus »

Hey all,
Just saw this on Trade Me, It has the GPX Bumper, the GP-VR Aircon Mivec Engine, and just a GP Badge on the back?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 702001.htm

Any idea exactually what it is, and the difference between it and the GP-VR/GPX??

This is a dilly of a pickle, as i thought the GP was only in 96 if im correct?
Only thing i can think of is that the sticker is wrong or the year model was read incorrectly, BUT it has a prefacelift bar, so it cant be a 97 can it?

I've seen many '97s with out facelift bars.. they where probably made in 96 but first registered in 97 or something?

plus i guess it can't be a GP-VR as they only came in facelift didn't they? and have the different Spoiler...
And GPXs always have climate control don't they?

there is a photo of the VIN/chassis number on the page.

From what i've read, it has all the specs of a GP, just not the year...

Well the only real way of truly telling wtf it is would be to cross check the VIN but it has the kiwi vin there, not the jap one which you need.
Ill leave this to dwayne to comprehend.

All I can interpret from the NZ VIN is that it was imported in '04, and the documentation that they show, says it was first Registered in 1997.
My guess is that it was made ~late 1996 and registered in 1997 8O

It's on the other island anyway, I probably wouldn't bother with it, as it will cost 500-1000 to just bring it down here 8O

Yet it's a 1997 Build, and you think it would have been first registered in 1994....?

The GP was a limited run that pre-dated the Version R's. It is actually a version R, but came in other colours (including blue) and im not sure it has the colour coded seats. It could very well have been prefacelift. 97 was the shape changeover, so some will be prefacelift and some facelift. The 1994 will be a mistake as the GP wasnt released until at least 96 from memory.
