Laptops - hook ups?
Hi all
I've gathered that many of you on here are based somewhere in the IT industry.
My mum is after a laptop and rather than walking into harvey norman and paying top dollar for a prebuilt system, I was wondering if laptops had the same kind of flexibility as a desktop? (i.e. can be custom built from generic and top quality parts?) I got my desktop built with the specs I wanted at a much cheaper price than an out of the box solution.
If so or if not, does anyone recommend anywhere that has top quality, value for money laptops? (I am currently looking at MSY and a few other places).
I'm relatively versed with computers, just haven't been keeping up to date with it for a while.

Can't really build a laptop up like desktop no. If your chasing a new laptop, msy/umart are normally one of the cheapest

Re: Laptops - hook ups?
JB HiFi have some pretty sweet deals on laptops at the moment, plus you offer cash for less.
It's gonna be a bit hard to get away without a pre build on a laptop though. Terrible really, the first thing I do when I get them home is run a vanilla OS through it...

Re: Laptops - hook ups?
You can, but it's not really possible to the greatest degree like a tower.
In all honesty, I doubt your mum is going to be playing the likes of Skyrim or Metro 2033.
The average under $1000 laptop these days are quite neat in functionality with the intel graphics and i3 core.
Just go for a good well known brand like Asus, Lenovo or HP and you will be fine. (I don't often recomend HP due to the bloatware, but they make a stable machine.)

I thought that would be the case.
I appreciate the help, and it seems msy and jb are my best bets.

Yeah, but it still leave a lot in there.
Reason why I seldom buy a brand name computer, and if I need a new laptop, it's always an Apple.

Meanwhile, your other pic the text has been changed.
The poor sucks on the left are complaining about the BSOD whilst the peeps on the right are trying to figure out how to change their desktop background.
