Must Do's after buying new car?

Post by Technikhaus »

Hey all,
So I'm wondering what are some things that you should really do after you've bought a new FTO?
I'm guessing things like Oil and filter.
But what would be some other things to do?

Thanks,
Braydon

Unless the previous owner has indicated that it has been recently serviced and you believe them, get it serviced. At the very least you should be looking at swapping out fluids, (oil, radiator, brake, etc) along with air and oil filters so you know how old they are.

Full clean will be done, forgot about that :p may also hire a Rug Doctor and give the interior a decent wash.
A decent drive on the way home shall definitely be done :D

So all the fluids and filters would be the best bet?

we will be getting that done before we even purchase one, AA has some people that will come to the car and do a full check over of it for about $180.

That is exactly what you want to do. Worth every cent to avoid a lemon.

Yea my mate got it done on an FTO he was going to buy, as soon as he got the results he left the FTO

It's quite a bit of money to spend on a check, but I guess it stops a lot more money being required in the future 8)

Sorry, not being from South of the border, I didn't realise that AA was sh*t. I normally use either a full RACQ inspection (where they take the car away and put it on a hoist to inspect), or a mechanic chosen by me (not the seller).

Edit: and only now does it dawn on me that AA = Alcoholics Anonymous. How could I miss that? I really need a stiff drink.
