Quick mivec question

Post by EscapingFate »

Been looking around at FTO's lately and i took one for a drive and it was a lovely car... buuuuut two problems

A) at 5500rpm... it did not feel like mivec kicked in at all...
B)IF mivec was kicking in it didnt have a chance to do anything because the rev limiter was still active at 6000rpm.. even whilst the car was warmed up...

Anyone know why this would be happening? this is probably the only thing that would stop me from buying this FTO if i was going to buy one again soon...

I was just curious if its a big problem or small problem or unknown problem etc.. just wondering as i said in the first post this would be the only thing that would stop me from buying it...

I guess its trying to tell me it doesnt want to be thrown down a hill... >_>

There's a GR version with a Mivec 6A12 engine at a dealer in Chullora. Ran fine but about 5,500rpm, no mivec rush.

Check the oil. I had this happen to me before. It needs to have enough in there.

Something is obviously wrong if the rev limiter is kicking in whilst the car is warm...
Just stay away from it and look for another car. No point buying an fto with problems lol.
