revs wont go past 6500

Post by Nevs220 »

Bought a gpx a couple of weeks ago and recently discovered that it wont rev past 6500, does anyone know why it would be doing this, is it just a problem with the limiter or would it be something else :?:
Cheers

Could be you're not letting it warm up or it's in safe mode for some other reason like the alternator cable isn't connected properly (the data one), reach down the back left of the engine and push on the connector - hopefully you will hear a click.
Would imagine a faulty temp sender would also cause this as it may think it's not warmed up.

Not letting it warm up is the most common cause for that, give it at least 10 minutes.
LED ALL the things.

Have you engaged your flux capacitor yet? That should be the first thing to try before anything else as its usually the problem and the easiest to fix.

the timing might be out. turn the engine over and get dead centre and check to see if it lines up with the timing marks.

I just came back from the mechanic, he is going to scan it tomorrow morning if there is no error codes then he is going to check the timing belt.
He thinks its something mechanical because there is no engine light.

Dude we arent retarded, if it wont hit mivec, either your oil is too low, your alternators fucked or your have a faulty engine temp sensor.

Man if your timing is even off by one tooth on one cam your car runs like sh*t and your engine vibrates like crazy during idle.

That's unusual but I'd expect that could cause your problems.

Check connections first if not just get another second hand unit. Unusual for these to fail.
