Alarm + Immobiliser
My FTO has never had a alarm or immobiliser installed, so I want to get one installed. I called a few installers I found around my area, and all seemed very unprofessional and didnt know what they were talking about.
I have done a bit of researching and found 3 systems that look like good choices.
Viper 855XV
Mongoose M80
Autowatch 446RLi
Can anybody recommend any of these or any other systems?
Also, does anyone know of a good installer around Newcastle or Sydney?

I have a warlock alarm system.
Got it from JB HiFi.
Also, whatever alarm you get make sure is it Aus standard.

I have one of the earlier versions of this one:
http://www.viper.com/P-3305V/Viper-Resp ... ity-System
I find it is excellent. Being able to lock and unlock my car from over 100m away whilst inside a building, able to see if I've left it unlocked, and even knowing what has set off my alarm. Only downside is that I have to buy a new AAA battery for it every few months, but it shows when the battery is getting flat.

Ebay units are just trouble IMO. Just get a basic one from a store.

Re: Alarm + Immobiliser
Ok so last night I got really drunk at a mates house and needed to get home. When I arrived in taxi I heard I very faint noise. Thinking it was my nabours Christmas lights I didn't think anything of it and went to bed. At about 3 in morning I was woken up by my alarm going off it's nut so I got my alarm key and pressed unlock. It wasn't working. So I tried turning the car on and car wouldn't start. I got desperate and got on google searching how to turn it off. Nothing worked. Then nabour was yelling and carrying on. I was out of ideas so I cut the alarm speaker off took it inside. Then it hit me. I was given small keys to manually turn it off. So now I'm left with a dead car no alarm system and a massive hangover.

So you wont be needing that '~delightful~' ARC intake anymore?

double check with your insurance company what kind of immobiliser you need for the vehicle, for a peace of mind that they will honour the agreement in case you need to put a claim.
I dont have an alarm, i dont keep anything valuable in my car, just an immobiliser and 3 years, no problems.
mine was a generic from Jb hi-fi and is still working a treat.

Get a viper alarm system. You can start your car without a key

FTOATH- i heard that keyless starts with a remote button are not good for the engine because its a 'dry start' or something?
