Ok go and buy sand paper... the way i did it was with starting with 600 grit working my way up in intervals of 200 to about 1500...

You need

>: spray bottle full of water
> the various sand papers
> plastic polish or normal polish works fine too
> a buffing pad with a drill attatchment
> a drill

Start sanding down with 600 spraying with water as you go once you do that on the head light for a few mins getting evenly around the whole light continue with the others till you hit 1500 make sure its all nice and tidy... You will get a white glaze over it dont worry about that once you buff over it it will go away.

Then put your polish on rub it in a bit... then begin to buff with the drill attatchment and buff pad..

And there you go sparkly headlights... if they are still dirty its probs on the inside and you will need to put your headlights in the oven to undo the glue and clean them but i have never done that myself.

You'll find a guide with pics within the DIY forum for headlights. It's pretty simple and will take 1-2 hours depending on how bad your headlights are.

Give you some advice? Just start with toothpaste and it could just be hazy due to years of weathering.

To clean the inside a good trick is to tie a bit of cloth to a clothes hanger and shove it in your high beam hole and move it around. You can dry it doing the same. Or you can just shove some cloth into the hole push it around and use a hook to pull the cloth out.

I got my hands on some McGuire plastic polish from supercheap, about 30 min on each headlight while still in the care and presto! Good as new! No need to sand, buff, or remove from the car. It does depend on the condition of the lughts though, I suggest you start small and avoid a headache.

 wet and dry with water is fine. I have done it a number of times when the lights are very bad.

Yea we did the ones on my mates car, took an hour or two on each headlight, could probably do another run over then with higher grit, and polish as there are a few sanding marks left though.

Make sure you gradually use a higher grit all the way to 2000.

I did to 1500 pap and it worked just fine for me but im sure 2000 will come up with even better results  haha.

You can never have too high grit!! just dont sand through your headlight... then you could have an issue haha

You get the best results from a machine buff, no amount of hand polishing gives anywhere near the same results.

Yep 100% agree. After sanding you need a good buffer to get the best results.
