Re: 4000 rpm
Is it warmed up when you're trying to do this? Like after a good 15 mins of driving. How are the oil levels in the 'box and the motor?

Re: 4000 rpm
I still reckon it's related to the gearbox speed sensor.

Re: 4000 rpm
It doesn`t even rev when warn, unless its on the odd occasion. Replaced all sensors in the gearbox and it didn`t make a difference, i have noticed if am in fourth gear and the rev are up till 4000rpm if i light press the pedal is goes over 4000rpm again on the odd occasion.
I will post up a vid of the codes flashing oil levels are okay in motor and gearbox.

Dave - I was going to ask where you live just in case you're in WA and I would have had a butchers but just realised you're in the UK, can you get the car over to Birmingham? Colin at CMS is very good.

Re: 4000 rpm
Just found another thread of Dave's over on FTOOC:
"Trip Counter
Am sure this has been asked on here, but cannot locate the thread hopefully some one can shed some light on it.
Noticed today while in traffic, the trip counter was going up even though i was stationary anybody had a similar issue with there car and hopefully the fix for it.
Thanks.
Dave.
"
Also
"
- When stationary, at what rate does the odometer/trip go up ?(It goes up in increments of 1)
- Does it do it all the time or is the problem intermittent ? (Yes does it all the time)
- Does it go up faster if you're driving ? (No just normal)
- Have you tried an alternative instrument cluster ? (Not yet, but when stationary it read 20mph)
- Do you have a delimiter fitted, & if so where (behind cluster or dangling around the gearbox) (No haven`t got one fitted also speed sensor changed
"
Sounds to me like the two issues are related and something is screwed around his clocks/kmh to mph converter/delimiter/gearbox speed sensor/ecu (have I covered everything?).

Re: 4000 rpm
The neutral light flashes twice a second when there are no codes no once. The vehicle speed sensor is at the back of the transmission with a plug like the tps but tad smaller.

Re: 4000 rpm
Dave - looks like there are no gearbox error codes but I don't see your engine management light on, that should be flashing constantly for no errors or flashing with pauses for errors, I reckon the bulb has blown.
Sort your bulb and then try again and post up a new vid mate.

Re: 4000 rpm
BTW Dave - the engine warning light that should also be flashing is the top left one above the battery warning light, swap with one of the other ones till you can get a replacement.

Re: 4000 rpm
Hi chaps, the engine management light is working when i switch on the car. The car is a tip tronic and accorrding to the DIY diagnosis mod the engine management light wont flash or there is some think wrong, as i connected the wire to pin 1 of the plug. The wire is fed to a switch and the other wire goes to earth, this way i can switch on when i want.
The cable is not slack, as the revs will go past 4000rpm while stationary.

Re: 4000 rpm
That all sounds right Dave except i'm pretty sure the engine management light is supposed to flash when in diag mode.
Strange that it comes on when you start the car but not during the test.
I take it the N doesn't flash when you're not in diag mode?
Have you always had this 4000rpm problem?

Re: 4000 rpm
Hi Rob,
I followed the guide below.
http://www.ftooc.org/forum/showthread.p ... nformation
The N doesn`t flash normally flash unless when diag mode is selected on the switch, the problem with the 4000rpm started quite a while ago.
I have since replaced sensors parts etc and still have the same issue, i have noticed if am in fourth gear and feather the throttle just before 4000rpm it goes over with out any issues and when i do it again shortly after it juders again.

Re: 4000 rpm
Is there no-one nearby that can lend you gearbox ecu and engine ecu to try them out?
I will run a diag on mine in the morning just for my own peace of mind and let you know but pretty sure the engine management light comes on and flashes at a constant rate, if yours doesn't do that then I don't know what that means (knackered wiring, connectors not in right, knackered ecu????)
I still don't think there's anything mechanically wrong.

Re: 4000 rpm
Hi Rob,
I have changed both ECU`s one on the gearbox and the main ECU, i have also been told the engine management should flash as well as the N but mine doesn`t.
I know i have done the mod right, as to the link above.

Re: 4000 rpm
