Re: Custom Intake
If i wanted to do it any other way i would just stick a pod on it and be done with it and not use the stock piping from the box to the front bar.
There is numerous reasons im going this path that justifies it for me but tbh i dont feel like typing for 10min to satisfy a random on the internet
If you think its a waste, thats fine - dont follow the thread
just dont be posting negative comments...

The FTO intake is not restrictive! It's been proven to do nothing.

Re: Custom Intake
Taz, just remove that piping that goes to the front bumper... That thing is very restrictive as one spot in it has a diameter that is smaller than the throttle body - bottle neck
So the setup will be TB > Intake pipe > Filter box

So the setup will be TB > Intake pipe > Filter box

Re: Custom Intake
Replace that lower section with a bit of flexible pipe. A 3 inch one will even thread into the underside of the hole going into the engine bay.
Then just cable tie the other end into place behind the mesh on your front bar.

This is also going to be used for my inevitable conversion as well, which will be required with the plans i have in store for it.
If your going to do nothing but trash this post with your unnecessary negative crap, dont bother and post it somewhere else, as it is certainly unwelcome here

I did a battery relocation and have a weapon R system setup with a ram pipe which feeds from the pod to the front bumper. Only restriction I had was the battery, thus why I removed it.
What is this crap you're talking about a slim radiator and removing fans? You don't need the ram pip to sit directly in the middle of the bumper...

Just relocate your battery, do whatever the f you want in the bay as there's plenty of room and then run your ram pipe just like bennoz has. Mine snakes to the left and sits between the bumper (where Bennoz's mesh is).
There's no need to go to the extreme for possibly an extra 1kw if that o.O

Re: Custom Intake
It will not be run from the middle if the bumper. It will be as far to the left as possible, and there is no hap between the radiator and side wall of the bimper to run it through. Unless I direct air the way the stock pipes goes o have to move the radiator to make a small gap for anything to fit through, let alone a pipe.
I honestly don't give a sh*t about figures and 1 kw etc I'm doing this because it is inexpensve, and looks good. Running a flexing pipe the same route as stock kinda defeats the purpose for me....
If you don't like it you dont have to comment I ain't changing what im doing everything is already ordered and i even got my TB reducer yesterday.
Just thought I'd post what I was doing for those interested, which it seems no one is so I won't waste time doing a guide.

Re: Custom Intake
Dude as said above, we're just tying to save you money. What's wrong with the way most of our cars are setup, nothing wrong with the way mines looks. Where the pip is located will hardly make a difference as the only section you will see is.....the ring at the front lol..Taz wrote:It will not be run from the middle if the bumper. Buying a new radiator is inexpensive? Mate RPW's radiator is $727 less postage.
We're interested in what you come up with but for most of us, the cost of what you're possibly doing to get a better feed isn't justified by the power gain.
Good luck with it

Ben, where's the best place in Syd to get a decent length of that 3" pipe?Bennoz wrote:Replace that lower section with a bit of flexible pipe. A 3 inch one will even thread into the underside of the hole going into the engine bay..

Re: Custom Intake
Good question, I probably paid a bit much for it at $25, but it is automotive grade. I bought it from Auto One in Chatswood from memory.Shane001 wrote:Ben, where's the best place in Syd to get a decent length of that 3" pipe?Bennoz wrote:Replace that lower section with a bit of flexible pipe. Looks a lot better quality than the one UAS supply with their whalepenis kit...Bennoz wrote:Good question, I probably paid a bit much for it at $25, but it is automotive grade. Re: Custom Intake
There is room between the bumper and the radiator, its just a big duct for the radiator, just cut a hole in the side of it. $30 piece of flexi pipe, cut a hole in the mesh, get a anodized induction ring to make it pretty.
Then you can get all your silicon joints and polished pipe in the engine bay. $150 max.
You make an airbox, using one of the Diy's. ~$50
You wack your podfilter in your box and your done.
= left over money for booze to congratulate yourself at the end of it all.

Re: Custom Intake
Ah, maybe they stopped including it at some point... Coz mine didn't come with one but it would've been useless anyway since the box isn't fully enclosedValandis91 wrote:Mine was probably purchased pre-2007...Gholdwayne wrote:They dont include another pipe in the whalepenis kitValandis91 wrote:Looks a lot better quality than the one UAS supply with their whalepenis kit...Bennoz wrote:Good question, I probably paid a bit much for it at $25, but it is automotive grade.
