LSD Tip to Manual?

Post by Shhtuart »

Hey Peeps,

I am hoping to, in the future, do a manual conversion on my 98 GPvR.

It's the 5spd Tip and my question is will I be able to take the LSD out of the Tip box and put it into the manual one? I'm not sure if they are specific for the gearbox so hopefully you knowledgeable bunch can shed some light.

Thanks :D

LSD trips are terrible. Don't try it.

Depends which type of LSD it is... I've got a viscous type one from an auto box at home & it will not fit a manual box.

Yes it will fit (just swap that crown gear to
The one in the man box). But gear ratios are slightly different, i just did the same
On my gpvr, the lsd skids te wheels when you are in a 45degree steering lock, an a lot of resistance is felt, i had mine in for a month and it was GREAT when straight lining and going around turns fast (infact, i could out accelerate my rx8, and my car has only an exhaust
And airfilter, and for the record i bet ir auto does 0-100 in 7.4 secs, with the lsd and manual it chopps that down to 6.3-6.4, whether thats a refelction of my auto box being really run down or in top shape and just a lot slower its deffidently a very nice boost)

But the oter day i had to do a hard 3point turn, driveshaft snapped at the cv joint, because of the hard lock, so i wouldnt recomend it unless you have very small(or large) wheels on the front to counter the final drive ratio, otherwise i think you can only get an aftermarket one
