Confusing lifters

Post by payaya »

Been doing some research on lifters and it has just gotten my confused.

There were previous reports from memory we can use the lifters on the below site.

http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewI ... duct=12153

Fairly straight forward? That lifter is for a 6G72 DOHC 3000GT/Stealth. Hyflow/Topline sell the lifter for a 6G72 3000GT/Stealth but from its specs its about 52mm long. Measured the original FTO lifter and it was roughly 10mm shorter! How does it fit then?

Going by the camskill website the FTO and 3000GT 6G72 DOHC are different.

Then you go on:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 650496.htm

It states the FTO uses the same lifters as a 6G72 SOHC Diamante.

Ebay (below link) has the 6G72 SOHC compatible with the DOHC which means the 3SX site has the right lifters for the FTO.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-99-MI ... 2204wt_752

Above lifter is a lifm16 and on their official website again its measurements make it wider and longer than the original lifters I have.

WTF?

Should I just forget it and buy a set of 3000GT lifters and hope they fit? Or has the lifters on 3SX have never been confirmed to fit?? But even camskill lists the DOHC 6g72 lifter not compatible with the FTO.

Also the Magna use to use them when they had the 6G72 3.0L SOHC motor.

Thanks!

Only one way to find out, get one shipped over! Try sweet talk them, ie "If it fits we got thosands of dollars orders coming your way!" Then if it doesn't fit, never speak to them again. lol.

I just had confirmation the 6g72 Dohc lifters are smaller than Fto ones. They are longer but narrower.

The FTO ones are the same as a 3.0l pajero and 3.0 magna v6. Both are sohc motors.

In previous posts you said some dude on the engine forum got them to fit? That's what is confusing me. I will try to do some more research as I was about to buy them as well from that 3sx site.

Should see where the magna guys are getting their lifters from.

You mean people pointing to the lifters on the 3sx site? Everyone was pointing to it in the past but no one just got them.

I've narrowed it down to the 4g93 lifter from the early evo gsr mitsubishis. Getting more info now but have to wait until tomorrow.

Yep I'll try to get the info ASAP if not we may have to do a group buy with meek as the cars that use this lifter are not that popular.

Might be able to get it for low 200's including delivery. There's also big difference between lifter brands and a lot are from china. The better ones are the ones made in the USA by top line and hyflo.

Yep I thought that would help myself but it seems same engines use different lifters so its sort of all over the place.

Eg. A 4G93 uses different lifters depending on the model.

I'm just waiting for a dude in NZ to get back to me but should be around 200 bucks delivered.

It's not china crap which most company sell but hylift (top line) lifters from the USA.

OPTION 1: Economy 10-25 days $18.00 (Insurance is up to $250.00 but it is very hard to be paid for lost items as there is no tracking number, I have just been down this track, lifters were sent to Germany on the 6th of JUNE, they still haven't turned up...)

OPTION 2: International Air 3-10 Days $20.00 (Insurance is same as above)

OPTION 3: Economy Courier 2-6 days $36.00 (Covered for value up to about $350)

OPTION 4: Express Courier 1-5 days $48.00 (Covered for value up to about $350)

Nz dollars.
