Where did that nut go?

Post by Storm »

Just been adjusting the tappets today and I managed to drop one of the retaining nuts down the engine. Well I hope it's there so it falls through to the sump. New nut from Mitsi tomorrow (hopefully) and then we'll start it up and find out if it did go that way and not into the combustion chamber :(

It'll get well cranked over by hand many times before I try it.

I wouldn't even do that. Pull the inner section of the manifold off the block first & hope to hell its under there...

I'm sure it's just slipped off the lash adjuster. Can't see how it jumped over the side to get to the manifold.

Gonna have another look in the am.

Oh I thought it was one of the nuts on either side of the intake manifold that you have to remove to get it off.

Oh well, yeah if its gone down the oil gallery it'll be in the sump. I lost a GR hydraulic tappet down the oil gallery once
