Need help on my poor 86kw FTO......

This will take a while to read so bear with me....

I went to Hitman today to ask about Haltech. The guy told me to have a dyno run first and see if putting a haltech interceptor will help much so we did.

So car went on the dyno and the reading was 86kw!!!!!

. that is pathetic!!!

A bit of detail for my car. Its a 1994 GPX Tiptronic,230000ks.
Mods are hurricane extractor, 100 cell highflow CAT, mandrel bend catback, K&N pod filter(no airbox).
Just service last week with new 10W-40 castrol magnetec, oil filter, NGK platinum sparkies.
Just had my tip box flush 3 weeks ago.

So now, can anyone tell me what is wrong? Does torque converter make any different?
I am thinking of doing a manual conversion soon(lawso's gearbox). But now I am thinking will it be worth it.
I was going to go N/A route and get the most out of it like port and polish and match, piggyback, Tb etc but looking at what i got today, I am not sure if It will actually make much different.

well i bought the car off AJ and he showed a dyno reading and i think it was around 100kw? or 98 not too sure but the car is completely stock

just turbo your car

Just for comparison on what've been reported by forumers here before this,

Stock manual 6a12 mivec which is still fit, goes around 95-100kw atw.

Stock tip 6a12 mivec around 80kw atw.

You got 230000kms on it. Don't expect it to be as fit as new. Power loss over age.

What do these cars really make at the flywheel?
Are we just in denial that 150kw is accurate?

To give you an idea my car made 112kw atw (manual) with apexi filter + 2.5" exhaust.
My friends made 132kw I believe with Pro Iida extractors, hi flow cat, exhaust, apexi filter, FPR and CAI.

I believe this was on a dyno that reads high though as on a different dyno that supposedly is more accurate my friends car only made 119kw I think, or there abouts

Comparing power figures on different dyno's on different days is a waste of time. There are so many different factors that will affect the power reading, not the least of which is the dyno operators fudge ability

forget the dyno just go to a drag strip and take it for a 1/4 mile run

I know its an old engine with high Kms but with all the "essential" mods that was done, that figure is just depressing

Maybe its time for me to do an engine swap?

Turbo charging a FTO require a lot of money, effort and space so prob not a good idea for me as I am not that mechanically minded. and after reading the posts it will prob cost around $10-15ks.

My aim is to have a relatively fast daily drive that will give me some fun when i want it. haha. Love acceleration more that top speed. Thats why i wanted a manual conversion( will have better acceleration I assume)

Where do I go for a 1/4 mile test?

I'd personally look at a new 6A12 with lower km's.

Strip it out, new seals, clean injectors, new spark plugs, o2 sensor, new filters and chuck all your mods onto that.

THEN tune it.

230,000kms is very high and as said above, power loss is an issue as it ages.

If you want compare some apples & oranges, of the 2 guys that tune my car, there is 50kws difference between their rollers.

I think the main contributor there would be the car load of mates

Add 200 - 300kg of weight to our poor underpowered sportscars and you will quickly bog it down. Remember 100 to 130kw atw is really f**k all, the only reason our cars perform reasonably is because they are relatively light weight.

Imagine how much money youd make with $50 dyno runs. Youd pay off the dyno in a few weeks
