lol yeah, there's lots of talk here, but I dont see any Evo halfcuts being looked at...

Dont forget, Evo V and above only... I-III are the wrong way round & the 4 suffers crankwalk.

AJ wrote:Yeah, as far as I can tell, it's stock internals. I've done a few other bits like FPR and larger fuel pump but nothing else.

If you want it to scare you, then go 4g for sure!
AJ is that on standard compression too as far as you can tell?
He didn't get it open up so can't really tell if it has dished pistons or thicker head gasket.
But i bet it's still on stock CR hence the pretty amazing result of 175kws.
As long as it's tuned properly stock CR should do it fine.

You know that thing whines like a bitch starting from 1 rpm right?
Might get excited hearing it whines loud ass for the 1st few times.
Bet you'll crank your audio up when you're fed up with it whining every single time you drive it especially if it's your daily.

You can't even hear your mivec or exhaust tone or induction noise.
All you hear is whirrllllllll~~~~~~~~!!

From inside it's not too bad and cruising you don't hear anything different, apart from on video I never heard it from the outside - never let anyone else drive it!
And yeah it got boost as soon as you stepped on the loud pedal, about 6 psi from launch going up to 7.5 at around 5000 if I remember right and then holding till pretty much redline with a slight drop at the top which I was actually quite please about safety wise.

I know Ben, but i know i wont be able to fully afford this till next year, im keeping my eye on half cut prices and for a steal if one comes up, but beyond that i need to save 30 odd grand for this. No point in spending all my money on something thats going to sit in the garage for 6 months.
Costing this out - i figure a very modest figure of 20k for the 4g + awd if everything goes smoothly (which i know it wont :? )
Then theres the fact i wont drive it unless it has considerable upgrades to suspension, brakes front and rear, harness', and probably a few more safety things i can think of. Im atleast going to TRY be safe about this (if its possible  )
so say another 10k for all of the above - thats going to take me a good 6 months saving pretty damned hard.
All i can do now is save and dream. gives me time to properly lay this out i guess, already got most of it planned, just need to research the rest.

yea well i figure 20 is a good mark for the cost of the half cut, labour and anything else that might pop up. As for the 10k on extras, im going all out i dont want to purchase crap then have to spend more money upgrading it eventually, i want either hypermax or compx suspension, 6 pot fron 4 rear 300mm+ brakes etc - you get the jist. This might and probably will change down the track but at this stage, safety first i think. As my father says, a car is only as fast as its brakes.

Geez 20K?,
I'm aiming for 3K max for the supercharger project but hoping for a lot less.
I'm hoping to go back to the uk in December for a visit but the missus has given me an ultimatum - uk or supercharged FTO - I said both but we'll have to see, may not be able to start my project until the new year.

20k i think is fair. either ill have to buy a complete evo 5 for the floor and half cut, or find an evo floor and buy a 5 odd grand half cut as that is what they seem to be sitting at right now.
Plus the labour of all of that will be pretty damned high. thats what im expecting so if it comes to less than that then im happy :D

Fair play to you mate if you've got 20K to spend on it then you should end up with a pretty good conversion if all is done right, good luck.

Why? So your not the same as the other dozen people world wide that have done it? Reckon I could dig up pics of at least that many 4G conversions. Its not what you do it how you do it.

My point exactly. There is that few conversions done on them you can put a small number on it. Try putting a number on all the evo's running loose in the world.
Its not going to be the only one, but its going to be close, that's good enough for me.
I can name several myself, including an FTO that has been turned into a 4g63t AWD convertible roadster. Doesnt phase me one bit  i still love mah baby
