And how does one go about getting to the f:evil:cking thing? I took the column shroud off but after that I got a bit lost.

Re: Ignition ring light
Not a biggy mate. you only need to remove the lower plastic from the steering column. 4 screws - 2 at the front either side of the 'raise/lower steering wheel' lever, one in the deep hole, and one right at the back near the base of the lever.
Now, stick your head in under there and look up from the floor, in behind the silver metal of the ignition. You'll see a T5 bulb connector in up behind there tucked away almost out of reach - pretty identical to the one on your ciggy lighter. with one finger from below, and one from dash-side, you can twist it anticlockwise and pop it out. Bit fiddly, but doable. One T5 wedge LED will pop straight into the holder... and re-assemble!

Why wouldn't it work? i noticed the new one had two little capacitors in it could that be why?
All i want is it to work

Re: Ignition ring light
LEDs are tempermental little bastards that only work one way, so try turning to opposite side, if that dont work, make sure the wire is onnected to the bulb,
then let me know if you still have trouble,
im about to go and change mine right now, haha

Re: Ignition ring light
hmm, try a different bulb?
maybe that one is faulty,
i dont think there is a fuse for that, unless it runs off interior light fuse, id check that fuse just to be sure,
but i would say a dodgey bulb at this stage
