FTO GR Wheel Alignment Settings

Post by -Nighthawk- »

Hi guys,
I'm getting some new tyres and a wheel alignment but I was wondering what the settings are for the GR.

Does the GR have the same alignment as the GPX etc.? If so what are they?

Thanks

Do you have front camber pins?
I would suggest around -1.5 camber at the front, -1 at the rear and keep the toe around 0

I'd give the front at least half a degree toe in. Stops it from tram lining when taking off in a hurry or on a rutted road.

The rear I tend to give half a degree toe out to help with turn in, but thats up to you.

Not sure if I have front camber pins or not.

So I should ask for the settings to be:

Front:
-1.5 camber
.5 toe

Rear:
-1 camber
.5 toe

Basically what I'm after is maximum stability going straight, turning corners going as fast as possible isn't really a concern haha

Also I'm getting them to replace the tie rod ends while they are there, should I ask for the ball joints to be replaced as well (I have the parts) or will that cost too much extra?
Thanks

May as well ;)

Just added the toe (in) and toe (out)

Front:
-1.5 camber
.5 toe (in)

Rear:
-1 camber
.5 toe (out)

Keep in mind, if you have no camber pins, you will have no control over the front camber. It'll be what it'll be.

how are these toe values in order of wear???

My rear tyres have been raped by too much toe and need replacing whereas my fronts still have a bit on them :(

Half a degree won't affect wear in reality.

Remember toe in front gives more stability but worse turn in
Toe out worse stability but better turn in.
In the rear toe out is again worse for stability but allows the rear to "swing" around and turn better
And toe in is more stable but worse for turning in as well

Alright going in tomorrow morning, so the adjustments Bennoz posted would be best? :)

Also, if I replace my bushes down the track would that affect the wheel alignment at all?

Hi guys,
so I got 2 new Yokohama C drive tyres on the front and they seem to handle better now, also got a wheel alignment and tie rod ends replaced.

My car is still pulling to the left slightly however. The guy said that my front left wheel was buckled so replaced it with the rear left wheel and put the good tyres on the original rear left wheel.

Would this buckled wheel be causing my car to pull slightly to the left even if it's on the rear?
Thanks

your car is probably now properly aligned. cars are designed to drift to the left as a safety precaution. is it a pull or a drift?

WTF. That is total bs.
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

really? 8O
Hmm... someone has been telling me fibs for a while then..
i thought that our cars naturally drift slightly left so that in case you fall asleep at the wheel etc your car drifts off the road...
my bad.

Every other car I have drove has had the steering dead on center when you let go of the wheel. Unfortunately mine has been drifting left since day one and I want to get it resolved :(
