Intake Pipe
Hi,
Does anyone know if and what intake pipes work well with the FTO motor?
I think the 90 degree bend where the TB is could only do harm. I have a optima battery which I plan to move to the trunk hence I want to use a different intake pipe which will hopefully net some power.
Can someone advise me on anything?
Thanks

Re: Intake Pipe
Yes but the bend is still there.
But for cars with a battery relocation to the trunk that bend is unnecessary.
Maybe some Honda carbon intakes fit? They look quite nice and free flowing

Re: Intake Pipe
Do you guys think it would fit without fouling anything?
It looks like it will but they are quite expensive to buy just to try

Re: Intake Pipe
not without hacking it up. The distance between the throttle body and the firewall in that picture is much greater than in the FTO (the throttle body in that is much shorter)

Re: Intake Pipe
Dstocks, which part will foul do you think?
Keeping in mind this is under the assumption that the battery is relocated to the trunk

Re: Intake Pipe
Just visualising the shape and positioning of that Honda pipe I think Dstocks is saying it kinda looks like it is too long and doesn't have enough of a bend to avoid running into the fuse box or inner guard.spetz wrote:Dstocks, which part will foul do you think?

Kinda like this penis fest...?

You should buy one anyway and try (assuming they have the right throttle body size). Worst case, I'm sure there would be a million VTEC YO!!!!! fanboys out there who would be willing to buy it back off you for about the same price.

Re: Intake Pipe
It's not a cheap piece of kit at around $250 or so, making it too pricey to buy to test it out.
Hopefully a shop may have it in stock and I can tell them "I will buy it if it fits"

Re: Intake Pipe
Did a dummy test during the winter season by locating the pod beside the windscreen washer bottle.
With many angle to play with as far as setting up the pod for optimum air flow around it, also placing a shield behind to trap air on the filter.
PROS: no heat soak, feels little more zippy going up hill, induction sound.
CONS: dirty quick(checked every 3 days), hydrolock?,
