Re: Amp channels
Depending on the speakers... But I would always go 4 channel to run front + rear, and a mono block to run the sub ...FTOATH wrote:What amp are you running it off? And what head unit do you have?
I just had to add it ......

Re: Amp channels
Just my preference... though...
I prefer to be able to tune a sub through its own amp, rather than share one... And, I would rather have rear speakers run through an amp at a lower power then the front, rather then leaving them as un-amped and just rear fill...
Are you running 6X9 in the rear...? If so, you really want to set it up so that they do not drown everything out...

Re: Amp channels
Yeah I'll have the 6"5 at the front and the 6"9 then just a 8" Sub don't need a huge 12"

Re: Amp channels
Yeah, you will have to be careful the 6x9"s don't over power the sound.. So will have to fade them ...
Only an 8" sub?
I would have thought a 10" ... I had a set of Kenwood HQ 10" subs .. They were the best subs I ever had...

Re: Amp channels
I would only ever buy soundstream, vibe, focal,Boston acustic, pioneer, alpine,Rockford fosgates. There's a lot of brands I wouldn't buy such as Sony kenwood or kicker. It really comes down to what your ears like. But you may like sony.

Re: Amp channels
Sony can be OK.. Like anything they have their premium range, and their cheap as sh*t range.. Personally though, I have never bought a Sony Product except a replacement head unit for a car I was selling...
Kenwood use to be great.. Hence the 10" subs I had... I bought them in 1996, and pumped them hard.. Through Rockford subs... And you know what.. They are still around today.. I gave them to a mate... Actually, maybe I will get them back...
Kenwood splits use to be pretty good to at one stage ... But, then they went all cheaply made.. I destroyed that many Kenwood splits with only moderate power (not at their max level) and had so many warranty claims.. To the point where they were going to stop honoring them ... So, I stop using the brand..
Have had good experiences with Cerwin Vega and Polk Audio as well ... But generally, I am an Alpine and Boston Pro man... And still love my Rockfords...

Re: Amp channels
Pro series of any brand are ok. It depends how much you want to spend. And how far you want to go. I got almost 16 speakers in my fto. Yeah it's great but then you gotta worry about. Plus the weight issue. Then tuning it all for soundoffs. Can be a lot to maintain. But no regrets. And It depends on what your aiming to achieve. Do you want spl or sql?
