Hi guys,
Does anyone know if 4G63 cam gears fit the 6A12?
And if not what other options are there besides RPW?
I found these guys make them:
works-engineering.com
However I think it may prove difficult to procure them

Re: Adjustable Cam Gears
I am unsure of whether I need them or not. I got the heads shaved to increase the CR by 1 point (to 11:1) but not sure by how much they were actually shaved and whether it would impact cam timing enough to warrant these. So at this stage it's more information gathering.
Did you find out whether or not the Evo cam gears, or 4G92 MIVEC cam gears work?

Re: Adjustable Cam Gears
Valandis has got a spare set of vernier 6A12 gears.
I had mine made from standard gears, its not expensive to do.
I've even got a full set of spare gears here you can have for a case of beer-esque price.
Its not so much the compression change that makes them a neccessity, its the fact that they never get the settings optimum from the factory. Bloke who tuned my car reckoned just about every jap car has the cam timing wrong. We pulled 25kws out of my 6A13 just be retarding the exhaust cams by 2 degrees. They also managed to drag solid gains out of a 4AGZE a few days before mine.

Re: Adjustable Cam Gears
I was reading because my heads would sit lower from shaving them that the timing would not be as per factory and would need to bring them back to spec. Though I understand they have other advantages, I just thought they would not be obvious without aftermarket cams etc
Bennoz,
Are those cam gears strong?
I would like to get them off of you.
How would you like to go ahead with it?

Re: Adjustable Cam Gears
my old mechanics are just muppets...
the cam gear that had the cam angle sensor on it was out by one tooth.
therefore they got the car running with them on but it was very rough and if you didnt slightly hold your foot on the accelerator it would cut out. now instead of figuring out why it did this they just decided to put the stock cam gears back on
when all they had to do was a slight modification.
This still has me fuming to this very day but they are reluctant to do anything about it and frankly
i dont want to take my car back there in their hands. i had a lot of issues with them.
Their so called "road tune" had my car running so lean my Proper Dyno tuner was amazed i hadnt melted a piston or worse.
thats what you get for trying to do work down here.
Only one place i have a slight amount of confidence in finishing this which are the guys that did my tune but they
are very expensive.
The plan is to one day take it to the mainland and get it pulled apart and reassembled properly with a couple of final touches
but thats a long way away

Re: Adjustable Cam Gears
You probably don't need to take the whole car, rather just ship the engine?
I had a friend though you took his car to Tasmania for $800 just to drive around there.
I feel for you with the mechanics
