So you want a hairdryer on your FTO? Or do you already have a hairdryer in it? This is the section for it. All other big power projects & forced induction goes here too.
Its the one part I haven't had to open yet & thats the actual donk itself. I've had heads in pieces to replace all the tappets & valve seals, but not actually off the motor itself.
Because I kept the factory tubs, there relly wasnt a need to open it up & drop forgies in, would have been over kill.
Having said that, I do have my eyes peeled for a spare engine, which I'll probably do that to ^^ over time for when this one blows up. Cause it will eventually... knowing my luck
They were similar enoguh for RPW to make a 2.5l mivec engine. But it was a test build and no one bought it so it was dissasembled. Also it was really expensive for a n/a basic motor but it did have forged internals for high compression, etc fitted to it.
Mivec heads are the same underneath (i.e the stud patterns & chambers etc) so they'll bolt onto any 6Axx block, but they are very different up top, for obvious reasons.
That I dont know... would need grab a head from each & I dont have a Mivec head here.
Seeing the differences in pistons, 6A13 has dished pistons vs 6A12s crowned piston, I would imagine most of your compression difference is there. That & the stroke.
You can get pistons to put in a 2.5litre im sure that can make it rev higher. Not sure if its because of a taller piston or just a lighter one or what though.

owch!
fkn hell... that sucks... would have been an epic build, but its all too familiar with private tuners... no one willing to put up the dosh for the guinea pig = no product to sell... having the same issue with road race motorsports in Emerica....
anyway, back on topic... whats next on the red bitch ben?
Thanks Bennoz, though I would be more curious to know what the CR ratio difference would be when MIVEC heads go onto a 6A13 block (hence the dome CC).
I am contemplating slowly attempting to build a 6A12/13 but it's difficult to commit such a large amount of money for just a motor when by the time it's finished I could buy an S15 or something...
I'm getting older and somehow decisions are being based on financial feasibility and logic.
I don't think there's anything logical about building a 6a12/6a13 engine but its pretty cool though... I think RPW used custom made pistons because they could use a 12.5:1 compression ratio with high strength. Can't imagine they would have gave up the chance to use ordinary pistons if there were some out there with a decent compression ratio for it.
I would just buy the one RPW has made/knows how to make up. They sourced the parts from 3 engines says right there on the site...
Yes but their bill for that engine is astronomical, in the vicinity of about 15K+++
I mean, at this stage it is just speculation. The engine is in a Lancer coupe and to be honest I feel like an idiot for even thinking on spending more money on a Lancer. I converted it to a 6A12 in 2004 when I was 21 and I felt fine driving it, but today at 28 I think I may be embarrassed to drive a Lancer. I haven't driven it since 2007 so I cannot comment.
The only thing with this Lancer is that it was my first car bought new as a present by my dad in 2001 so it has a lot of sentimental value and in a way I want to "finish" it to the level I wanted it at when I was younger.
I don't know, so many conflicting feelings and thoughts.
Was gonna say, I had a feeling you were thinking that. TBH with the cash you'd spend, you wouldn't get anywhere near the power you would from just dumping a stock 6A13 in there out of the box. If it would fit that is...
And I hear ya re: the 'young peoples' car lol, I had to drive my step sons pos MX5 today with its comically wide tyres & attract-a-cop-ophone 4 inch cannon dangling out the ass end & mismatched blue on red hardtop... felt like a right penis driving in the driveway to work with all these people from the office looking on
