200,000Kms reached...what to do now?

Post by BJ »

Hi everyone, hows it going? My FTO has just reached the 200,000km mark. So im planning to get a major service done, which i know will cost a lot, so im assuming the major service involves changing all spark plugs (Platinum), changing oil & oil filter, changing air filter, changing coolant....etc....is this fine? or is there anything else i need to get done or did i miss anything else i mentioned in the major service....? Also Everytime i start my car, its making flapping noise...im assuming its my fan belt that needs to be replaced....im sure this is part of the major service....Thanks guys for your advice

 You would do a engine swap cause it needs a service??? 8O

Or you could just buy another FTO?? :D

Seriously if you buy a new engine, you don't know where its been so a full service inc timing belt etc will be needed anyway.

Well, my car is up to 220,000 km now. I bought it at 80,000 km 6 years ago and it still drives like the day I bought it.

The only issues are the air con (which I have had for 3 years anyway but just havent had the money to fix), reverse gear sometimes doesn't want to go in and the exterior paint work is corroded on the roof (saw the thread on how to fix this). Other than that, it is still going strong...

I'll be looking at a major as mine ticked over 200,000 recently. Building up either a 6a13 or 4g63 over the next year or so to be put in as a project.

If you look after it properly km's don't matter, I have clocked 325000 in my 94 and it doesn't blow smoke or use any oil.
