Hi guys
Thought i should join up and get some knowledge before i end up with any more unwanted trips to my mechanic. (Not that he minds probably kept him in business this last month lol)
Bought my 1995 GPX about 4 months ago got a bit of a lemon but after a few trips to the shop and a bit of wallet lightening, lol its finally running as it should and now I’m keen to get modifying.
Well after the first week the starter motor died but that wasn’t too bad got some new bushes and gave it a clean and now works like new.
The big problem came when the auto box decided it wanted to die too and i couldn’t drive 100m without it jerking and going into safety mode so $2000 later its driving great, next on my list is to get the sunroof fixed as it is missing its control panel and needs resealing as someone decided to do a quick job and looks terrible lol

I suggest you find a new mechanic, or atleast get a few quotes first, sounds like your gearbox problem was just going into limp mode, which in my mind, isn't a $2000 fix!!!!
Anyway buddy, Welcome to the club!
Oh the gear box was stuffed the $2000 was for another one and labour. Cracked the old box open and it was full of what looked like metal shavings it had been seriously thrashed lol.
Both but only mild performance not planning on going down the turbo route at least for now anyway I have a list that’s totals up to about $9000 which I’m just going to work through section by section.
Main points of my list are
. Tein coilovers for front and rear
. Uprated brake disks and pads
. Front and rear strut braces
. Larger throttle body with custom cold air intake
. Full 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust system
.larger ignition cables and uprated coil packs
.Full body kit
.Respray once kit is fitted
And a bunch of little bits and pieces for inside and out

That is a nice list there and will be costly as you mentioned.
Only thing i'm not to sure on is the larger throttle body. I think I read somewhere about there being minimal gains from this. Not to sure though, might wanna give it a quick search over.
I don't think you would need a piggy back ecu, the factory one can pick up the added air flow and adjust the mix.
But after you do all your mods it would help to get a piggy back and tune it for even more power .
