heres a diagram i drew of the measurements as i now have the peice of glass which is lightly smoked but its a bit long at 96cm but it has rounded edges and 6mm thick glass. ive tryed to draw everything to aspect, the way the pistons come out its actually pretty square

You can also tell from the oil filler cap location.
Bottom left is MIVEC and top right is non MIVEC... I think anyway.

Awesome progress.
Pity in a way you didn't have the other 2 pistons, as that way you have all 6 pistons there holding the glass.
Regardless though, top job, can't wait to see the finished result.

Re: FTO 6a12 coffee table project started, Pics!@!@!@!
my plan was to only use 4 pistons from the start, i have looked at lots of other p[eoples engine coffe tables and they never use all the pistons when they use the same sort of design as mine. i think its so u can put wine bottles in it and be able to see them. should be back from the sandblasters 2moro or the day after

Engine back!!!!:):):) but too late and dark for pics to be taken.
watch this space b'coz 2moro (tuesday) there should b pics of sandblasted block + pistons and 1st coats of paint and maybe even finished table. not going to rush it but might do it over the whole day.
sandblaster blasted in the boars even though i told him i wanted him to leave em alone so it looks like their gonna be chrome also. not sure if i should paint the plate at the bottom of the engine aswell(think its the side the harmonic balancer is on ) so feel free to give me an idea...... its aliminium and was thinking of leaving it so its not to chrome but come to think of it it looks a little funny from being left out so i will prob just paint it
this is gonna be fun painting in the boars

Almost as bad as braking the breaks.
See what I did there.

Re: FTO 6a12 coffee table project started, Pics!@!@!@!
hey all done and tunrned out great, brought little clear silcon feet things for on top of the pistons and used $16 can of liquid chrome paint (used nearly all of it 400g) from supercheap that worked really well, sandblaster charged $50 all up. ideally the glass being not as long woulda been better but may get it cut at a later stage. i used 6 wheels from bunnings for $1.50 each and tapped threads in the bottom of the block for them. bolted the conrods into the holes id already tapped prior to getting the block sandblasted.
Enjoy:) and feel free to leave feedback
Engine: $15 fuel (thanks kermut)
bolts: $03
Sandb: $50
Wheel: $09
Glass: $05 (2ndhand)
time: 10-15 hours, washing, stripping down, travel, drilling, tapping, setting up, painting etc
Total: $82 pretty good value i think

the inside ones were in bad lighting thats y they dont look as awesome

That is so cool.
Was it hard to get the pistons level for the glass?
P.s it needs LED'S

Looks really good, you should be proud!
If I had to change something though I would get the bores honed, and maybe the rods and/or pistons polished

Re: FTO 6a12 coffee table project started, Pics!@!@!@!
looks awesome! all i can recommend is finding another 2 pistons to put inbetween the 4 you have (so you have 6 if u know what i mean) to pay a bit of homage to its v6ness
but top job!

yeah thanks everyone not sure about the LEDs but have thought about it it may wreck the aesthetics but still thinking about it, might stay with the 4 pistons because you can still make out the 6 bores (anyway i dont have 2 useable pistons coz their smashed up lol). i told the sandblaster not to blast the bores but he did anyway but owell.

looks good and i think if you put the other 2 pistons on you wouldnt be able to use it as a bottle holder the pistons would get in the way
