Mini service, anything else to add?

Post by -Nighthawk- »

Hi guys,
currently giving my car a mini service to replace some essentials, mostly to do with the bushes and droplinks.

I have also included some rear brake pads, new air filter (it will be replaced by a POD soon) near spark plugs and ignition leads. I also have a full set of 24 tappets to replace as well.

Is there anything else I should do? The oil was changed about 5 months ago.

Also, are any of these parts overkill or underkill? The car has done 165k and the last service by a mechanic was at 140k, since then I've serviced it myself with changing oil etc.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated :)

I also changed the brake fluid a few months ago, along with front brake pads, which squeal :\ and I have some tie rod ends for the front to put on.

Oh yes I also flushed the coolant a few months ago so won't need to change that.

For the fuel filter, I decided on just getting this bundle:

As the fuel filter and air filter separate was more expensive than the all 3 bundle.

Can you please link me to the MAF plate? Can't seem to find it :\

Cheers

Ok so I've ordered the MAF plate (along with some blue LED's for the heater unit and cigar lighter 8O ) for when I get around to doing my induction.

Are all of these parts compatible? So you need front and rear bush for the front bottom arm?

Do you think it's worth replacing the rear drop links?

Thanks in advance

There is no such thing as a full service.

Cost of a service really depends on the condition of your car, what you actually want to get done (are you hoping for an oil change or an engine recondition?) and where abouts you are located.

Think about it, if your tyres are buggered tyres can range from $50 a tyre to $5000 a tyre depending on what you are after. Best bet is to take it to a mechanic and ask for a quote.

Oh, and please try to refrain from asking the same question in multiple threads.

Seriously, it depends on what you want to get done.

Get a quote and post it on here along with what they will do for that price. The members on here will then be able to tell you if that is a good price or not.
Me? Bitter? f**k no. I think it's hilarious.
