Re: Extractors
Looks like your hunt for stepper motor leads you to this instead.
rpw extractor - $500
hurricane extractor - $600+
Some say they both are the same thing.
Install extractor - $150-250
---------
Exhaust tip. Just the tip????? $50 for a nice tip.
Install, just weld it on the back. Say, $30?

Re: Extractors
Has anyone actually compared the two (RPW & Hurricane)?

Re: Extractors
Yea i remember someone compared them and say they're exactly same thing.
And, some say hurricane's is re-branded from rpw's.
^^ Somewhere in the exhaust thread.

Re: Extractors
Extractors have absolutely nothing to do with what noise the car makes.
Further more, have you done the cat back yet?

Re: Extractors
Yeah they do they make a nice growl on some cars!
Helps to fit a double braided flex pipe too if you fit RPW extractors they get them made from a place in sydney who attaches a single braided one to them. Sometimes a bit hit and miss if you need a double braided one or not. Gets rid of the loud buzzzing noise.

Re: Extractors
Yeah I spent many hours with a straight grinder cleaning up the RPWs. However that was 8 years ago... processes may have improved since then.

Ben, i beg to differBennoz wrote:Extractors have absolutely nothing to do with what noise the car makes.

The moment the guy started up my car after installing the hurricanes, there was a difference.
Extractors do change the sound of the exhaust, though I don't really like the rasp when i hit 4500rpm

Might be a different story if the muffler was quiet. Mine is loud enough to manifest subtle changes in the sound...
Cameron, the extractors range from 600~900 and the professional installation could be from 250~350.

All new exhaust components add a raspy sound until the soot builds up on the inside of the piping.Gholdwayne wrote:Ben, i beg to differBennoz wrote:Extractors have absolutely nothing to do with what noise the car makes.

Re: Extractors
^ True that, and i know that sound well, but i still know the difference in grunt from before the hurricanes and now. Its like the car draws grunt from the earth, not just from the tip kinda thing
All i can say is, the car really did sound heavier since the hurricanes.

Re: Extractors
A back muffler changes sound, The rest won't change sound much at all. It may go a little bit deeper but that's it.

^ Yehp!
If you've been driving for a while with say, only a cat and cat back, then put extractors in, you will know that you just got better performance and a deeper exhaust tone..
@storm hawk, your custom downpipe pretty much has a similar effect
