Got done by the EPA

Post by payaya »

Hey,

Never thought my exhaust was even remotely loud but got done tonight at 93DB during rev and it went to 102DB during lift off!!

So I am 4 times too loud and was wondering what is the easiest way to quieten down the exhaust??

New muffler or maybe a hot dog??

Thanks

Can always get what i got for my civic that had a massive cannon on it... (i could fit my whole fist in this cannon on a 1.3l civic carby... sounded ballsy though haha)

A silencer fitting they insert it in the exhaust put 4 nuts in it and you can adjust how loud u want it with an allan key... not a hard thing to do and it was about 60$ and u can take it out n put it in as u wish and adjust the loudness.

fkn lol.

Meanwhile, just add or replace the center muffler.
hotdogs merely take out the drone and some of the farts, but an actual muffler will take away the noise.

So your system is still factory, no mods at all?
The back muffler is it like a 20 galon drum?

It's the lift off which kills the FTO. At 5000rpm lifting off increases noise levels by 10 DB. If you know your DB scale, every 3 DB increase is double the loudness. So in reality my exhaust has to be roughly three to four times softer to pass!!

I think that 4500rpm scream is only when you have extractors/better downpipe. I have that scream too, though i wish i could dampen that

Actually a 3 dB increase is approximately twice the intensity, not loudness, and a 10 dB increase is exactly 10 times the intensity which is approximately twice the loudness. (You called me up on the FPV F6 having a straight-six not a V6 ).
