Car died whilst driving in flooded road after earthquake!
ive got a big problem, my car died whilst driving in flooded road after the earthquake yesterday, was going good then a asshole in 4wd coming toward me at more speed than needed pushed a wave over the bonnet.
that was the end, engine died, sucked in a lot of water i think, got all covers off now, trying to dry it out, wont turn over, sounds like the battery is dead,is that possible, starter motor, fuses,i have no idea where to start?
any one had the same problem before?
what can i try?

Yep, engines hate water (can compress air in pistons, but not water). If it gets inside its game over im afraid. I wont drive through more than 10cm in the fto. If you were driving through enough water to go over the bonnet then itll have sucked it right up. Is particularly risky if you have a pod filter

Pull the spark plugs out and crank the engine.
If you have water spraying out of the points where the plugs would be.
Then you will have other worse things that will mean dead engine.
sucks to hear dude.

FIXED!!
Lucky escape on both fronts.
all it took was 1 good mechanic.
motor was hydrolocked, fortunately the engine had cut out before any damage could be caused, engine has been flushed, all filters, plugs and oil changed and hes running as good as newish again.

suprisingly cheap, under $600, but we will have to see how it goes for a month or so, hopefully no gremlins swam into other electronic parts.zuihoujueding wrote:thats good news mate. what the damaged? $$$

Re: Car died whilst driving in flooded road after earthquake
sorry to hear it. mine cut out straight away and didnt get and revs on it when flooded which i assume helped as nothing got bent.
take it in to someone that knows their stuff, might be more costly but at least they have the right tools and knowledge, might be cheaper in the long run.

Re: Car died whilst driving in flooded road after earthquake
One time we went on a mini-meet, this was a good 4.5 years ago. Myself, AJ and Frozenwaffles (hasn't been on forums for at least 4 years).
It was raining, his car was lowered, his air intake led his pod filter towards the bottom of the car. He drove into a big puddle of water, goodbye car.
So sadly, as people have said.. gone. Sucks buddy
