Hi Debbie,
I'm not sure what the "gt" business under the bonnet is, but I would recommend you find out exactly what model of FTO you have. Although GP and GPX have the same engine, the GP is the dressed down version of the GPX and may cost you a slightly lower insurance premium. Plus you don't want the insurance company to refuse paying a claim on the basis that you got the model wrong
To find out what model of FTO u have, just have a look at your chassis number. It should look something like this: DE3A 0000000000 HNGH. The last four letters are the key. If you do in fact have a GP, then the last two letters should read FH.
Hope that helps

If u facing your engine, which side is your oil cap? if its on your left, then its a MIVEC, if its on your right, then its a Non-MIVEC.
If you confuse with the above statement, your oil cap should be at the same side as your driver side (Steering wheel).

Hey guys this is Debbies boyfriend Russ,
Nah the engine metal plate under the bonnet actually says GT in body type i think i havent checked it for months. I believe its a GPSP (SP= sports pack) basically like a GPX just with out the MIVEC on it. I think your right i think he added the plastic plate on it, but who knows. HAHA i dont know heaps bout the FTO parts and engine types as im a Nissan man (Proud S15 owner)
Could the GT on the inspection plate could that be a Japanese release? or a Not heard of often or relabeled a SP?

That would be your manufacturer's plate, but at least you know now that you got MIVEC.

OK, it's the compliance plate then as only the compliance plate has a date on it, the manufacturers plate doesn't have a date on it.
Therefore it is not Mitsubishi who put "GT" on the car, it was the compliancer, so I would suggest it is a "GP" and they made a typo when they had the compliance plate done.
